Chapter 432 Hush-hush

She'd told Samantha a million times not to be late, but did Samantha listen? Nope. She still went shopping, and Chris blew a gasket. Cheryl called to chew her out.

Heather had to plaster on a smile and apologize to the crew, but Samantha didn't give a damn.

Heather felt like she was bombing as an agent.

After a morning of filming, which got pushed back an hour and a half 'cause Samantha forgot her lines, Natalie had no scenes in the afternoon, so the delay was no biggie. Just as she was about to bounce, the crew coordinator told her she needed to reshoot two scenes.

Natalie smiled and said, "Sure thing." She didn't have a trailer, so she had to wait for the crew's car.

Not far off, Samantha's voice rang out. "Where's the driver?"

Samantha needed to head back too but found the driver MIA.

Heather said, "The driver had to bail; he had some emergency at home and took a cab."

Standing under an umbrella, Samantha snapped, "Didn't you line up a backup driver right away?"

"I did, he should be here soon." Heather figured it was probably traffic, so she pulled out her phone to call and hurry the driver, who said he was stuck on the overpass and would be there in half an hour.

Samantha said, "Go get me a Starbucks black coffee, light ice."

Heather asked, "Now?" The nearest Starbucks was over an hour round trip.

Samantha nodded. "Yeah, now. Chop-chop."

Heather glanced at Samantha's assistant, Tessa Walker, who was Samantha's cousin and wouldn't lift a finger. Heather nodded. "Okay, I'm on it."

Heather grabbed a cab and rushed back as fast as she could, making it in 52 minutes, but Samantha was already gone.

The backup driver had shown up and left with Samantha's trailer.

Heather hung her head and sighed deeply. She knew Samantha wouldn't wait for her.

Taking a sip of the black coffee in her hand, it was as bitter as her mood.

Suddenly, a soft, gentle voice floated through the air, like a whisper in Heather's ear, soothing and calm. "Heather, my car's coming. Wanna ride with me?"

Heather looked at Natalie. "Natalie."

The car picking up Natalie had just arrived. Natalie nodded at Heather, who was standing alone.

Yvonne said, "Heather, come on, or you'll have to cab it."

Heather smiled. "Alright."

Heather was young, around twenty-five or twenty-six, probably fresh out of college and new to the entertainment biz as an agent. With little experience and few connections, she got stuck as Samantha's executive agent after joining Dynamic Entertainment Media.

Yvonne asked, "Heather, where you headed? Looking for Samantha?"

Heather shook her head. "Nah, to the company."

Yvonne told the driver, "Sir, after dropping us at the set, please take Heather to the company."

Yvonne was cute and charming, and the driver smiled. "Sure thing, no problem."

Heather stared out the window for a bit. It was a long road, at least an hour to the set. Her eyes landed on Natalie, who was wearing an eye mask, dressed in a white shirt and jeans, chilling in her seat.

Heather asked, "Natalie, you resting?"

Natalie replied, "Not really."

Heather asked, "Natalie, you don't have many scenes left. Got your next gig lined up?"

Natalie had plenty of options, but Adrian had even more lined up for her. Leaning back in her seat, eye mask on, enjoying the breeze, she said, "I dunno, depends on what my sugar daddy arranges."

Heather was taken aback by Natalie's words. "Natalie, you gotta be kidding."

Yvonne laughed. "Heather, just take it as a joke. Natalie hasn't picked her next role yet." She seemed to be fishing for info. "Has Samantha's next project been decided?"

Heather said, "Yeah, a cool sci-fi flick where she's the third female lead. Cheryl busted her butt to get it, and it's super hush-hush."

Samantha was the lead in this film, with at least twenty days left to shoot. Her next project was already set.

Meanwhile, Natalie hadn't locked in her next role.

Heather felt the entertainment industry was totally unfair. Natalie was gorgeous, had a great personality, and was talented, but Dynamic Entertainment Media wasn't pushing her.

On the flip side, Samantha, who was average, unprofessional, and always late, had tons of opportunities.

Same company, both newbies, such a huge difference.

Natalie chuckled softly. "If it's so hush-hush, why'd you tell us?"

Heather forced a bitter smile and said nothing.
