Chapter 1076 Severe Injuries
Heather was right on Melissa's heels.
"How's Adrian?" Melissa blurted out.
The doctor sighed, "Mr. Adrian Howard's injuries are pretty bad. He's still in surgery."
After Natalie's surgery, the medical team was initially worried about separating the two, but Adrian's fingers slipped away from Natalie's hand.
Natalie was safe, and Adrian seemed to be at peace.
Heather camped out by the ICU door, not budging an inch.
When she heard Natalie's surgery was a success, Heather finally let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She leaned against the wall, sliding down until she was sitting on the floor, gasping for air like she could finally breathe again.
'I knew Natalie would be okay. I've been grinding in Vachilit for years and met Natalie, who opened doors for me. I've spent so much time with her, seeing how tough and hardworking she is. To me, she's family and my best friend. I don't have many close friends, and my only grandma passed away. Natalie's my family now,' Heather thought.
Seeing Natalie lying in the ICU, pale as a ghost, Heather couldn't hold back her tears.
Meanwhile, the surgery room was a pressure cooker.
Adrian's situation was way more complicated than Natalie's.
The room was packed with specialists. They paused the surgery to hold an emergency meeting, coming up with two plans. If the first one failed, they'd jump to the second, but they worried Adrian's body might not handle it, which was the big challenge.
If Adrian's body couldn't take it, the surgery would fail.
The lead surgeon stepped out to explain the plans and risks to Ruben.
Ruben nodded. "I believe Adrian can make it."
Joe nodded too.
The surgery room lights flicked back on.
Two hours later, Adrian was wheeled out, looking pale, lips colorless, eyes shut, but the surgery was a success.
The doctor let out a sigh of relief.
Ruben's eyes welled up. Leaning on his cane, he looked at Adrian, his fingers trembling.
Melissa supported him. "Dad, you need to rest too. Adrian's okay now. The surgery went well."
Ruben was wiped out and could barely stand.
Joe told Melissa to take Ruben home, saying he'd stay and watch over Adrian. If Adrian woke up, he'd call right away.
Rachel was in the ward with Claire. Since the critical condition notice, Claire had fainted and hadn't come to yet. Rachel sat by the bed, silently pleading, "Adrian, Natalie, you have to wake up."
The Cullen Mansion.
The place was almost deserted, with all the servants sent away.
Only Renee was left because she was the maid Avery brought with her. Renee was lounging on the couch, munching on fruit and watching TV, looking like she owned the place.
Then, there was a noise at the door.
Renee jumped up, quickly tidied the couch, and tried to turn off the TV, but it was too late. She looked up to see Curtis walking in.
