Chapter 1328 What Benefit Do I Get from Letting You Go?

She had vanished with Beatrix, and no one knew what had happened to her.

After about ten minutes, the bathroom door swung open.

A man walked out, wrapped in a towel. Rachel stared at his bare upper body, stunned. She hadn't expected Elmer to be so lean yet still have abs.

Elmer was equally surprised.

He hadn't expected anyone else to be in the bedroom.

Especially a woman.

It seemed Isaac was serious about this, really putting this woman in his room.

Elmer walked to the door and knocked, "Open up."

The two men outside heard Elmer's voice and opened the door. "Mr. Elmer Roach, Mr. Isaac Roach instructed us to stay here and not let her leave."

"Does my word mean nothing now?"

The two bodyguards looked troubled. "Mr. Elmer Roach, please don't make things difficult for us."

These two only took orders from Isaac.

Elmer closed the door and went back to the bathroom, changed into a robe, and dried his hair.

Then he sat on the bed, leaning against the headboard, and opened a book.

Rachel felt ignored, sitting on the couch, and her frustration grew.

"Elmer, I don't want to marry you, and you don't want to marry me, right? So, go talk to your dad and have him let me go."

"Letting you go, what's in it for me?"

Rachel hadn't expected Elmer to respond with a question.

"Keeping me here doesn't benefit you either," Rachel pleaded. "If you let me go, I'll be grateful. I... I know many top doctors. I can arrange for specialists to help treat your condition."

His eyes darkened, "It's incurable."

"How do you know if you don't try?" Rachel quickly said. "Maybe there's hope for a cure?"

Elmer raised his eyes, cold and indifferent, "I don't care who you are. Don't meddle in my affairs. You'll sleep on the couch."

With that, he put down his book and lay down. "Turn off the light."

Rachel gritted her teeth.

Great, he was treating her like a servant.

But she had no choice, so she turned off the light.

She curled up on the couch.

The bedroom had heating, so it wasn't too cold at first. But Rachel woke up in the middle of the night, shivering. She hugged herself and rubbed her arms, eventually falling back asleep.

The next morning, Rachel woke up to find herself in the bed, accidentally lying on Elmer's clothes.

Elmer looked annoyed and disgusted.

His eyebrows furrowed.

Then he sharply pulled his clothes out from under her.

Rachel sat up and quickly checked her own clothes. Thankfully, they were intact.

Elmer seemed to notice her actions and scoffed disdainfully before getting out of bed.

Rachel realized she had been rejected.

"What do you mean? Who knows if you might try something inappropriate?" Rachel stepped back, keeping a safe distance from Elmer.

Elmer raised an eyebrow, "Have you not looked in a mirror since you got here?"

Rachel blinked, confused. What did he mean?
