Chapter 232 The Boy from Ten Years Ago
Adrian said, "Take off my clothes too; they're soaked and uncomfortable."
Natalie paused, turned, and blushed. "You can't do it yourself?"
Adrian replied, "I've been poisoned by a snake, have a fever, and no strength."
"Alright." Natalie walked over and took off Adrian's shoes and sweatpants. She looked away but noticed a scar on his left calf.
Natalie asked, "Mr. Howard, what happened to your leg?"
"It was broken ten years ago in an earthquake in Silvervale Town," Adrian said flatly.
Natalie pressed her lips together, staring at his calf, thinking, 'Can it be such a coincidence?'
When she was a child in Silvervale Town, she was buried in rubble during an earthquake. A boy with a crushed left leg was buried with her. They were rescued, but she never saw him again.
"You're lucky," Natalie reminisced. "That earthquake was terrifying. Many lost their families."
"My home was in Silvervale Town too," she said, eyes welling up with tears. "My grandma passed away then."
Meanwhile, no one in the hotel could sleep, especially Alice.
In the conference room, Alice said, "Loren, you must find Adrian. You're responsible! If anything happens to him, I won't let you off!" She found the driver. "Drive. I need to go to Pearl Island!"
On the phone, Loren said, "Ms. Cullen, take care of yourself. If anything happens to you, I can't bear the responsibility." Alice was pregnant; if anything happened to her, he would be done for. "Ms. Cullen, please calm down. The search and rescue team is already on it."
Everyone thought Alice was just worried about Adrian. Only Alice felt uneasy about Natalie and Adrian spending a night alone on the island. If Natalie revealed the truth about the hotel, Alice's plans to become Mrs. Howard would be ruined.
"Alice, don't get too upset. You don't want to harm your baby."
"Exactly. Loren will find Mr. Howard. Even if you went to the island yourself, it wouldn't make a difference," Diana said, worried that Alice might insist on going to the island despite the storm. Diana didn't want to be stuck in the rain and wind either.
It was raining, the waves were rough, and the yacht was unsafe. It might even capsize. They didn't dare to go.
"Yes, Alice, please calm down. Take care of yourself."
Compared to Alice's agitation, Daniel had already calmed down.
He took a deep breath. "Alice, going into the forest now won't help. We're not as professional as the search and rescue team. Going in during heavy rain at night is suicidal. Trust Adrian."
He was also scared and worried, especially since both Natalie and Adrian were in the forest.
Rachel, with red-rimmed eyes, was starting to despise Natalie. She blamed the maid for Adrian's predicament, thinking, 'If it weren't for that woman, Adrian wouldn't have gone into the forest in the first place.'
Rachel asked, "Daniel, Adrian will be okay, right?"
"He will be fine," Daniel said firmly, "He definitely will."
The conference room door opened.
Jamie walked in with a cane. Rachel stood up and quickly ran over. "Jamie."
Jamie, due to his leg, hadn't participated in this event. He had been in his room the whole time.
Rachel quickly said, "Jamie, Adrian is missing. He went into the forest because that maid Natalie was lost."
Alice felt very displeased hearing Rachel say that.
In the conference room, many people looked at Alice with different expressions.
It dawned on them that Adrian went in because of Natalie.
