Chapter 700 Except for Natalie, No One Else Knew.

Natalie slowly shut her eyes, resting her head on Adrian's lap, her breathing evening out. She drifted off to sleep.

Right then, the TV show came back on after the commercials, kicking off a new episode.

It opened with Alice's face. Technically, it was Natalie's.

Adrian stared at the TV for a few seconds, feeling like a ton of bricks had landed on his chest.

Being a stand-in, acting in a show, while someone else got all the credit—how much did that suck?

Adrian bent down, scooped Natalie up gently, and carried her back to the bedroom.

She was so light. Ever since she got into the entertainment biz, she'd been filming non-stop, watching her diet, and she seemed even skinnier.

So much so that Adrian thought she might break.

He lay down next to her, tucked her in, and smoothed the stray hair by her ear, watching her sleep.

Her eyelashes fluttered a bit.

Adrian reached out and gently patted her back.

Right then, she looked like a fragile glass doll.

He was scared of breaking her. His eyes fell on her hand.

She wasn't wearing the ring he gave her.

She'd been so happy when he gave it to her, eyes sparkling with joy.

But why wasn't she wearing the ring?

Honestly, Adrian felt like he hadn't really gotten into her heart.

There always seemed to be so much weighing on her mind.

He loved her lively, bright self; he didn't want to see her smiling at him with a mask on.

He muttered, "Natalie, when will I really get into your heart?"

She was still asleep.

His phone rang. He stepped out to the balcony to take the call.

Brice's voice came through. "Sir, A week ago, Mrs. Howard called Lucas and asked for the lead role in One Day. That same day, Ms. Teeger's role was replaced. Now One Day has started filming, and Ms. Cullen's joined the cast."

Adrian leaned against the balcony railing.

He knew the deal. Claire had never managed Dynamic Entertainment Media, nor did she know any of its projects.

How could she suddenly ask for One Day? It had to be Alice who went to Claire and got her to do it.

Since Claire said it, how could they not secure the role?

Adrian hadn't expected Alice to go to Claire for a role.

And Alice specifically targeted Natalie's role.

Even if it weren't on purpose, Adrian wouldn't buy it.

He instructed, "Dynamic Entertainment Media doesn't need leeches like Lucas and Herman. Dig into their financial misconduct and make it public ASAP. Find a solid one to take over as president of Dynamic Entertainment Media. Remind them that Dynamic Entertainment belongs to the Howards."

Brice replied, "Got it."

Natalie and Adrian went back to their usual routine.

She'd still smile at him, and he'd still come over often at night.

But every time he came, he'd bring her a gift.

It might not be pricey, but it was always a cute little trinket or figurine, or sometimes an expensive, limited-edition accessory.

Natalie thought that after that cold night, Adrian would think she was ungrateful and back off. She knew she'd been a bit bratty that night. But surprisingly, Adrian was super chill about it.

News came from Dynamic Entertainment Media.

They reported to the cops, and the authorities started an investigation.

Lucas was suspected of embezzlement, Herman of rape; both were detained, waiting for their fate in prison.

But all of this was kept on the down-low, and not many people knew.

Actually, among the entertainers at Dynamic Entertainment, besides Natalie, no one else knew.
