Chapter 917 Video Exposure
"Man, at that socialite gala, Alice really lost it because of Sandra. I mean, losing her kid and then getting mocked? Who wouldn't snap?" Avery said.
"So you think it's cool for Alice to scratch Sandra's face?" Claire shook her head. "Look, what happened to Alice is awful, but that doesn't give her a free pass to go around attacking people. She shouldn't have to hide what happened, but violence isn't the answer."
Nonplussed, Avery didn't expect gentle Claire to be so firm.
Curtis was clearly annoyed. He'd always been against Avery coddling Alice, especially now when she was trying to dodge responsibility.
Avery opened her mouth to say something but then thought better of it.
The living room was thick with tension.
Avery couldn't hold it in any longer. "You know, part of this is on you. Alice lost her uterus because of that ectopic pregnancy, and now she's stuck at the police station, suffering alone. And you just want to sit here and do nothing?"
Adrian smirked a little. "Since you brought it up, there's something we need to talk about." He called the butler, who quickly brought over a laptop. Adrian turned it on and set it on the table. "Is the child Alice was carrying really mine? Do you have a clear answer? I was going to bring this up to you, but since you're here, let's settle it now."
Curtis was fuming. 'Isn't this just a slap in Alice's face? She's been loyal to Adrian, and now he's questioning her? This is just the Howard family trying to dodge responsibility and leave Alice hanging!'
Avery's face went pale. She knew about Alice's messy affairs and felt a pang of guilt, afraid Adrian had found out something.
Not knowing how much Adrian knew, Avery didn't dare to argue. Under the table, she tugged at Curtis's hand, trying to signal him, but Curtis thought she was just mad at the Howard family for badmouthing Alice. He stood up. "What are you implying? Alice had two kids for you. She lost the first one saving Mrs. Howard, and now this one because of an ectopic pregnancy. She's been through hell with your family, and now she's detained. Instead of helping, you're accusing her? This is preposterous!"
Avery quickly tugged Curtis's hand again, worried his words would piss off Adrian.
Curtis thought Avery was just being strong for Alice. He patted her hand, like saying, "Don't worry. I've got this."
But he totally missed what Avery was really thinking.
Claire frowned, "Adrian, what are you getting at? Are you saying the kid Alice was carrying isn't yours?"
Joe chimed in, "Adrian, if you've got proof, show it to Mr. and Mrs. Cullen, so they don't think we're just bullying them."
Adrian plugged a USB drive into the laptop, opened a video, and turned the screen towards Curtis and Avery. The video started playing.
