Chapter 459 Disguise

Seeing Natalie hesitate, Rosalie freaked out, thinking she might blow this chance. It was already tough enough to smooth things over between them, and Alice's necklace looked hella pricey. Natalie was always super thrifty and never rocked fancy bling. Rosalie quickly grabbed Natalie's fingers, gave her a look, and then yanked the bracelet off Natalie's wrist, handing it to Alice. "This is perfect. You two are gonna be besties now. I can vouch for it."

Natalie glanced at Rosalie, feeling a sudden tightness in her chest. The thought in her head grew louder: maybe Alice was Rosalie's real daughter. It was almost laughable. She knew Rosalie had always been good to Alice, but she hadn't expected Rosalie to be so harsh on her.

She pressed her lips together. "Mom."

Rosalie held her hand, super excited. "Natalie, it's just a bracelet. I'll get you another one when we get back. I'm really happy today. Seeing you and Alice not at each other's throats makes me so happy."

Natalie's words got stuck seeing the happy tears in Rosalie's eyes.

Meanwhile, Alice clutched the bracelet, eagerly slipping it onto her wrist. She looked at the yellow diamond, sparkling like crazy in the bright light. It was so beautiful, a rare and valuable yellow diamond. Such a gorgeous bracelet should be hers, not Natalie's.

"Natalie, you should come over more often. I wanna chat with you more," Alice said in a deliberately sweet and innocent voice.

Natalie's lips curled into a cold smile as she looked at Alice. "Sure."

With her back to Alice, Rosalie couldn't see the twisted look on Alice's face. Natalie really wanted to snap a pic of Alice's face and show it to Rosalie.

Alice reached out to touch the bracelet and mouthed silently to Natalie, "What's mine is mine. Adrian is mine, and so is this bracelet."

At 3 PM, Rosalie and Natalie left the hospital.

Sitting in the car, Natalie pulled Alice's necklace out of her bag. Rosalie, sitting beside her, quickly said, "I see this necklace isn't cheap. Natalie, you should wear it. It's pretty nice."

Natalie looked at Rosalie, her expression complicated.

She asked, "Mom, do you really want me to get along with Alice that much? Why? Does my attitude toward Alice have anything to do with our current life? I've hated her since I was a kid, always hated her. We're not from the same world. Have you forgotten how Alice bullied me and framed me when we were kids?"

Rosalie said, "Of course, I haven't forgotten. But Alice didn't know any better when she was little. Now that she's grown up and has to rest in bed for half a year after this incident, she's become more sensible. Why should we hold grudges and dwell on past unhappy events?"

Rosalie hoped that while she was still alive, she could see Alice and Natalie no longer at odds. She didn't have many years left.

"Mom." Natalie exhaled deeply. "I don't wanna hear about Alice. I do hold grudges. I won't forget how she hurt me, how she and Avery treated me. Have you forgotten that Avery locked you in a mental hospital? That Alice went to the mental hospital to abuse you? They were the ones who were wrong! Why should we be kind to them?"

Rosalie said, "Natalie, I know you've been through a lot. I don't blame her. She's changed now. She knows she was wrong before."

Natalie shouted, "No! Alice hasn't changed! She doesn't know. Making up with me, calling me over, it's all an act in front of you!"
