Chapter 759 Willing
The cops said they were on the case and would do their best to nab the kidnappers and bring 'em to justice. They also jotted down their address and promised to mail their stuff back once they got it.
Adrian took off with Natalie and Anouk.
Natalie didn't ride shotgun but chose to chill in the back with Anouk.
Natalie had Adrian to pick her up, but Anouk was flying solo. Even though it was their first meet, Natalie and Anouk hit it off pretty well.
They swapped digits and agreed to add each other on Facebook once they got new phones and SIM cards back in Vachilit.
Natalie asked, "Where do you live? We'll drop you off."
Anouk bit her lip a bit. "Red Maple Valley."
Natalie had heard of it; it was pretty famous, one of the top villa spots in Vachilit.
Looked like Anouk's fam was loaded.
Adrian drove for four hours to Vachilit and dropped Anouk at her place. Natalie waved goodbye to Anouk and shut the car door.
The trip, which was supposed to be fun, had turned into a total nightmare. Natalie was beat and super hungry.
Adrian seemed to notice how she was feeling. "Wanna grab a bite and crash for the night?"
Natalie nodded.
Adrian drove Natalie to a 24-hour diner. They ordered some of the joint's signature dishes.
The rich aroma in the air made Natalie's mouth water. Since the kidnapping yesterday, she had only had some water and a piece of bread.
Adrian rolled up his sleeves, served a bowl of soup, and handed it to Natalie. "Have some soup first."
Natalie sipped the seafood soup, which was sweet and savory, warming her up inside.
Natalie looked up.
It was already early morning, and right now, it was just the two of them.
Adrian's face looked incredibly handsome in the light.
Adrian, with his warmth, had found Natalie.
Natalie looked at Adrian, her eyes sparkling.
Maybe, for the rest of her life, Natalie would never love anyone other than Adrian.
Even if it meant being a side piece, Natalie was down.
Anouk got home.
After a day of running around, she was totally wiped out.
The lights were on in the villa, but no one was there.
In such a huge, top-tier, multi-million-dollar house, Anouk was all alone.
Anouk went to her bedroom and changed clothes. Then she hit the bathroom and turned on the shower. Despite the warm water, Anouk felt a chill inside.
Anouk would rather be a regular person than have married Francis Morales, who didn't love her.
The biggest mistake Anouk made in her life was marrying Francis.
But the thing she never regretted the most was meeting Francis.
Francis had once brought light to Anouk. But he also snuffed out her faith.
After her bath, Anouk lay on the bed. Even though she was super tired, she couldn't sleep.
Anouk grabbed the spare phone from home and couldn't resist calling Francis again.
Anouk knew that at this hour, Francis wouldn't answer. But she still dialed with a sliver of hope.
After a few minutes, Anouk's eyes dimmed and she hung up the phone.
Anouk knew that she had never been in Francis's heart.
The next day, Natalie had a low-grade fever.
She didn't tell Adrian to keep him from a fuss.
After popping some fever-reducing meds, she felt much better by the afternoon.
Without a spare phone at home, Natalie found her tablet and sent a message to Heather.
