In the afternoon, Ruben and the others rushed to the hospital. Adrian's snake venom had been neutralized, but it took a while, leaving some toxins that paralyzed his hand. He'd been doing rehab for his right hand these past few days.
In the hospital room, Ruben felt relieved seeing Adrian was okay. Adrian reassured him, "Grandpa, I'm fine."
"It was really dangerous. Besides thanking Natalie, you should also thank Jamie," Ruben said firmly. He was proud of his grandsons and planned to hand over the Howard Group to them, despite the tension between Adrian and Jamie.
Ruben often felt sad thinking about Andrea. She was a good girl, but that accident...
Ruben wanted to use this incident to mend the relationship between Jamie and Adrian. "If Jamie hadn't contacted the ZT Wolf Rescue Team right away, things wouldn't have gone so smoothly."
The ZT Wolf Rescue Team was a top international search and rescue group with 27 highly trained members. Each member underwent physical training twenty times more rigorous than the average person. They had participated in numerous large-scale international rescue operations. The last time they were deployed was ten months ago, during the massive explosion at Ristalia's capital airport.
Since their successful rescue operation in Ristalia, the ZT Wolf Rescue Team had not been involved in any rescue missions. When Jamie's urgent call came in, team leader Jack mobilized a 12-person unit. Given the vast expanse of the forest, it took them four hours to navigate through its depths, but they successfully located Natalie and Adrian.
Adrian smiled faintly. "Yeah, I should thank him." But his eyes were dim.
Only Jamie could get Jack to act.
There was a knock on the door.
Claire and Melissa walked in. Claire rushed over as soon as she heard about Adrian's injury. Ruben had wanted to keep it from her because she had just had major surgery.
Adrian asked, "Mom, why are you here?"
"How could I not come!" Claire's eyes reddened seeing Adrian in his hospital gown. "I had to see my son. Are you feeling okay?"
"I'm fine now," Adrian said, looking at Melissa helplessly, "Melissa."
Melissa explained, "I made a call, and she overheard. She insisted on coming to see you. She wouldn't be at ease until she saw you were okay."
Claire asked, "I heard you were poisoned by a snake. Are you alright now?"
Adrian replied, "I'm fine now, Mom. Don't worry."
Adrian looked pale, and Claire couldn't relax. She started making calls for chicken soup and asked the doctor questions. Adrian gave Melissa a pleading look to take Claire away.
Melissa smiled and went to Ruben. "Dad, since we're here, I scheduled a check-up with Dr. Kroger."
Ruben nodded. "That's good."
Alice was in her own hospital room.
Aria Collins had just finished examining her. "Ms. Cullen, your condition is good, and the baby is healthy."
Healthy? Alice frowned and gave Renee a look.
Renee left and closed the door.
Aria looked at Alice, confused. "Ms. Cullen, what are you..."
