Chapter 1390 Daniel's Suppressed Emotions
"Andrea, what else did you find? Spill it, don't hold back."
Andrea pulled out her phone and showed Melissa a few pictures she had taken discreetly. The angle made it look like Daniel and Natalie were kissing. Melissa glanced at them, her pupils narrowing. She struggled to suppress her anger and looked at Andrea. "Does anyone else know about this?"
Andrea shook her head. "No, Aunt Melissa. I haven't told anyone. You can trust me."
...
Dinner wrapped up around 8 PM.
Adrian went upstairs to discuss something with Ruben, and Natalie stood up, wanting to take a walk outside.
She had left her phone on the couch and turned back to get it when she saw Daniel bringing it to her. "Forgot something?"
Natalie smiled. "Getting older, my memory isn't what it used to be."
"Older? You're not old at all," Daniel said. "How have you been? I heard your new film just finished shooting."
"Yeah, it's wrapped up," Natalie said, looking down. "I'll be starting a new project next month."
"Adrian's upstairs with Grandpa. It'll be a while before he comes down. Got any plans? If not, how about a game of chess?"
"Sure."
They went to the chess room.
Natalie was pleasantly surprised to find that Daniel was quite good at chess.
They chatted a bit about their lives.
Daniel mentioned he had a girlfriend now, and things were going well.
Natalie sincerely wished him well. "I hope to hear good news soon. When you get married, I'll definitely give you a wedding gift you'll love."
"Great," Daniel said, gripping a chess piece. "You better not miss my wedding day."
"I'll be there for sure."
In the living room.
Melissa watched Daniel and Natalie head to the chess room together. She stood up and followed them.
At the door of the chess room, she saw Daniel smiling and chatting with Natalie, a look of natural comfort that he didn't even have at home. Melissa didn't dare to interrupt but felt a sinking feeling inside.
This Natalie, this woman.
She was really going to ruin Daniel.
She couldn't let Daniel fall deeper.
At 10 PM.
Daniel returned home.
As he got out of the car, Melissa said, "Daniel, come here. I need to talk to you."
Daniel had had a bit to drink at the Howard family dinner. He tugged at his tie and said, "Mom, let me take a shower first."
Watching Daniel head upstairs, Melissa rubbed her temples and looked at Quincy as he walked in. "Quincy, come here. I need to talk to you."
Quincy rarely saw Melissa looking so serious and conflicted. He walked over and sat on the couch with her. "What's going on?"
Melissa frowned. "Tonight, I saw Natalie and Daniel playing chess together."
"That's it?" Quincy chuckled. "I thought it was something serious."
"You don't understand, Quincy," Melissa said. "Daniel likes Natalie. Before Natalie married Adrian, Daniel had already fallen for her. He helped her secretly several times. He didn't have any female friends and refused to date anyone else. It was only after Natalie married Adrian that Daniel started to meet other women. He only agreed to the dates I set up for him after that."
