Chapter 1042 Heartbroken and Obsessed

"Her family's broke, so she's all about the money. She's just using you for cash. She's even gone to Mrs. Reynolds a bunch of times, saying she'll dump you if she gets enough money. You're too kind, always letting Heather get away with it."

Yancy looked at Lucy. "Is that true?"

"Yeah, Mr. Bailey. You finally see Heather for who she really is. I'm happy for you," Lucy said.

"But Lucy, why do I feel so sad?" Yancy asked, pointing to his chest.

"Mr. Bailey, you're just exhausted."

That night, Heather hit the bar and drank herself silly, finally realizing she wasn't worth it.

Yancy's words cut her like a knife, tearing her heart to shreds.

All those sweet memories came rushing back, making her feel awful.

Heather took a sip of her drink and leaned back in the booth.

She closed her eyes, tears streaming down as she thought, 'Why am I not drunk yet? I don't want to be sober. I just want to numb the pain. I don't know what's up with Yancy, but I know Cassidy didn't threaten him. Yancy and I are done. Turns out Yancy wanted to give me some dignity. I'm the one who keeps humiliating myself.'

The bar was a mess, and Heather was sitting there drinking alone.

Naturally, a few thugs came over.

"This chick's got a nice body."

"Yeah, she's really hot."

A few thugs walked over, but Julian stepped in. "What are you doing? Get lost!"

Julian walked over and quickly helped the drunken Heather up. "Are you okay?"

Heather looked at Julian. "Why is it you?"

"Why are you here alone? If my friends and I hadn't come here for a drink, those thugs might've messed with you tonight."

"Julian." Heather's eyes were blurry with drunkenness. "Yancy and I broke up."

Julian was stunned. "What?"

'Broke up? No way. I've known Yancy for years, and I know he really likes Heather,' Julian thought. "What happened? Did Yancy do something behind your back, or is there some misunderstanding? I've been busy with the BBQ joint and haven't seen him. Hold on, I'll call him and get him to come out."

Heather said, "No, I finally get it. He and I are from different worlds. No matter how hard I try, I can't get close to him."

Julian looked at her. "I've known Yancy for a long time. If he broke up with you, it must've been in a fit of anger. Did he make you mad?"

"Julian, thanks for tonight. I'm leaving," Heather said, staggering.

Worried, Julian said goodbye to his friends and stopped Heather outside, "I'll take you home."

Heather's place was a small duplex for one person.

Back home, Heather grabbed a beer from the fridge, trying hard to get drunk. Suddenly, she collapsed on the floor, crying in pain.

The past felt like a dream.

She took out her phone and dialed Yancy's number in her drunken haze.
