Chapter 426 Take Action
Alice whipped out her phone and scrolled through Facebook. Someone she'd hung out with before had blown up her messages, but she missed them 'cause she was catching some Z's.
She tapped on the messages.
[Alice, it's Amelia Rodriguez, remember our hot springs trip? I was at a classmate's birthday dinner today and saw Mr. Howard having dinner with Natalie.]
Alice froze for a sec, thinking, 'What the heck, Adrian having dinner with Natalie? That girl's trying to swoop in while I'm down!'
Alice shot back: [Amelia, of course, I remember you. Just woke up from a nap. We should hang out again soon. Natalie's just a maid at my place. She knows Adrian, so it's probably just a coincidence.]
Yeah, right. Coincidence, my foot. Natalie was definitely making a move on Adrian. But Alice had to play it cool.
Amelia replied soon: [Alice, I didn't think you'd still remember me.]
Alice wasn't really in the mood to chat with Amelia but had to keep it civil.
Amelia: [Maybe I got it wrong. When I first saw Natalie, I thought it was you. So she's a maid at your place.]
Alice: [Yep. She's been with us for years and kinda looks like me. The Cullen family treats her well.]
Amelia: [Wow, I thought she was your sister.]
Alice asked: [When did she have dinner with Adrian?]
Amelia replied: [Just tonight. It was a friend's birthday, and we were all in a small hall at the Spring Garden Restaurant.]
At 11 PM, Alice started hunting for phone numbers. She didn't have Rosalie's saved, so she woke up Renee to get it.
She texted Rosalie: [Rosalie, it's Alice. Got time tomorrow? Can you come over? I'm in room 7 on the 16th floor of City Hospital.]
Rosalie was Natalie's weak spot. If Alice could get Rosalie on her side, Natalie would have to fall in line.
And Alice knew Rosalie had always been good to her since she was a kid. So, she'd start with Rosalie.
Rosalie showed up at the hospital the next morning.
She'd been wanting to visit Alice for a while, but the security around Alice's ward was tight. Now that she heard Alice was awake, she felt relieved.
She didn't expect Alice to hit her up first.
She walked to the ward door, feeling both excited and nervous. Renee glanced at her. "Come in."
Back at the Cullen family, Rosalie was the housekeeper, and Renee was just her underling.
Renee despised Natalie and Rosalie more than anyone else in the Cullen family.
Rosalie rubbed her hands, looking all humble. "Renee."
Renee snorted, ready to lay into Rosalie. Just as she was about to speak, Alice's voice came from inside the ward. "Is that Rosalie?"
Renee swallowed her words. "Yes, Ms. Cullen."
She looked at Rosalie. "Go in, Ms. Cullen is waiting for you."
Watching Rosalie walk in, Renee closed the door, then bent down to eavesdrop at the door.
She was puzzled, wondering what was up with Alice and why she was suddenly being nice to Rosalie.
