Natalie nodded, rubbing her nose. "Yeah, a lot of folks have told me Nicholas isn't as straightforward as he looks."
Milan chimed in, "To survive under Cassidy's thumb, he's gotta be something special. Ever since Austin went into a coma and Cassidy took over the Reynolds Group, she's filled the place with her own people. Ms. Teeger, how did Ms. Swan get mixed up in all this?"
Milan paused for a second and continued, "I heard from Bella that her marriage into the Reynolds family was set up by Mr. Brandon Reynolds. Brandon was tight with the old patriarch of the Swan family. Even though both of them have passed, the marriage deal still stands. When Cassidy brought it up out of nowhere, Bella couldn't say no. In Vachilit, even though Swan Jewelry Company is doing well, it doesn't have a strong foundation. Under Cassidy's threat, Bella agreed to the marriage. Everything was fine at first, but then Austin suddenly fell into a coma."
"The eldest son of the Reynolds family should've been gone a long time ago. That car accident made Xavier's already bad health worse, and he passed away soon after. When Xavier died, Cassidy temporarily took over the Reynolds Group, and both sons of the Reynolds family were in a coma," Milan explained.
"Milan, who do you think was behind that car accident involving the Reynolds family?" She had a hunch; it was Cassidy.
Milan said, "There's no solid proof, but all signs point to Cassidy. Even if the Reynolds family suspects her, without evidence, nothing will happen to her. Ms. Teeger, I'll keep looking for Ms. Swan. As soon as there's news, I'll let you know. Don't stress too much. Even if Nicholas took Ms. Swan, she's still his sister-in-law. He and Austin have leaned on each other in the Reynolds family. He wouldn't hurt Ms. Swan; at most, he'd just keep her confined."
Natalie nodded. "Thanks. You could've just told me over the phone."
Milan adjusted his glasses. "Mr. Dickson is in York City. I came to discuss something with him and thought I'd drop by to see you. If you need anything, just let me know."
Milan had noticed that the bodyguard always around Natalie, Derek, didn't seem like an ordinary guy. He had a logo on his collar, a unique mark of the Howard family, suggesting that Natalie might have some connection with them.
The Howard Group's influence was huge. Natalie probably asked Milan to look into Bella's situation because she couldn't or didn't want to involve the Howard Group. So, Milan took this seriously, but unfortunately, Bella seemed to have disappeared without a trace.
Despite Milan's extensive connections, this was the first time he hit a dead end in finding someone. He was determined to dig deep into the Reynolds family.
This wasn't the first time Natalie had heard the name Donny. The first time was when Lauchelle mentioned him. Since Lauchelle came back to the country, they'd called a few times.
As Milan was leaving, he said, "Ms. Teeger, whenever you have time, I can introduce you to Mr. Dickson."
Outside the room, Derek stood with his arms crossed, leaning against the wall. Since smoking wasn't allowed in the hallway, he had to smoke by the window. He hadn't even finished one cigarette when he saw the door to the room open. He stubbed out the cigarette, tossed it in the trash can, and walked over.
