Chapter 349 No Longer Renewing the Contract
Samuel stood up and walked to the white backdrop for the shoot, holding the latest phone model. After the shoot, both the photographer and brand reps were pleased.
The brand rep approached him. "Mr. Russell, it's been great working with you for two years. How about we keep it going?"
Samuel had been endorsing this phone for two years. Today, he wasn't here to shoot the newest model, but an older one.
Jessica whispered, "Samuel, the contract's up next month. Should we renew or look for a new deal?"
The brand rep was sincere. "We've had a good run. We'll add $5 million to the renewal fee."
Everyone knew Samuel's endorsement fee. He was selective, popular, and talented. At 26, he'd won Best Actor and had a stellar reputation. Any brand would benefit from his endorsement.
Samuel had enjoyed working with this brand but declined, "No, I don't think so."
Jessica was surprised. "Samuel."
Samuel told her, "I'm not considering it at the moment."
The brand rep was anxious. They had a good partnership, the fee was higher, and the brand was big. Why refuse?
"Mr. Russell, please reconsider. How about another $10 million?"
"No need." Samuel raised an eyebrow, put on his sunglasses, and prepared to leave. Jessica stopped the brand rep, and bodyguards followed Samuel.
Samuel got into the car. He'd just finished a movie and planned to rest. The car drove to the central business district but got stuck in traffic.
Jessica asked, puzzled, "Samuel, the rep seemed sincere. Why didn't you renew?"
Samuel took off his sunglasses and glanced out the window. He saw a billboard with a woman in a red dress holding a phone—Alice, the Cullen family's daughter. She had the same brand endorsement, thanks to the Howard family, without any real work to her name.
Samuel said softly, "I don't want to. Is there a problem?"
Jessica quickly replied, "No, of course not."
She didn't know what was up with Samuel. He'd been cheerful on the phone but suddenly seemed unhappy.
The car moved slowly. Jessica saw the billboard too. "Isn't that Alice? How did she get this endorsement?" She glanced at Samuel, who was leaning back with his sunglasses on. Was this why he didn't renew?
Jessica understood. Alice, with no real work and relying on her family's resources, never entered the entertainment industry to act seriously. Her goal was to be adored and chased after. It was truly beneath him to endorse the same brand as her.
"Samuel, you accepted the special guest male lead role in 'Happiness Like a Song.' Dynamic Entertainment sent over a script. The team is good, but they've inserted two of their own artists. It's a Howard Group company, so we can't openly refuse."
Samuel closed his eyes. "Just say my schedule doesn't fit."
