Chapter 1371 Rachel Attends the Banquet
After a long morning flight across the ocean, Natalie rubbed her neck, feeling the stiffness from the journey. She hadn't managed to get much rest on the plane, thanks to the constant chatter of a few socialites nearby.
After a refreshing shower and a change of clothes, she noticed a red string bracelet fall out while she was organizing her things. Picking it up, she smiled, remembering that Adrian had given it to her. She slipped it on just as Heather knocked on the door.
"Natalie, Matilda and Zanna are here."
Zanna was her makeup artist for the evening.
Matilda had brought three dresses today, including one she had rushed to finish for Kamille. The other two were options for Natalie. Tonight, at Kamille's birthday party, Kamille would officially announce their collaboration on the luxury fashion brand "Thread & Theory." Kamille had already coordinated with dozens of fashion media outlets to create a buzz.
Natalie turned to Matilda, "Thanks for all your hard work these past few days."
"No problem at all," Matilda replied, energized by thoughts of her brand's future. "Try on this dress. If it doesn't fit, I'll adjust it right here."
Natalie changed into the dress, a mermaid-style gown that accentuated her figure and highlighted her slender waist. She was still bare-faced, while Zanna and Heather discussed her makeup and hairstyle for the evening.
Matilda made some final adjustments to Natalie's waist. The dress was a finished product, the smallest size available, but Natalie's waist was so tiny it took about half an hour to get it just right.
"I made this dress three years ago. It's been in the store, admired by many, but never sold. The waist is too small, and the bust is quite generous. Most people who tried it on found the waist too tight or the bust too loose. This dress is different from Kamille's rose dress, which was designed with a larger size in mind. This one requires a flat stomach and a very slim waist. Natalie, how much do you weigh? You're so thin, but your proportions are perfect. You fill out this dress beautifully."
Natalie was amazed that a design from three years ago could still look so stunning and modern. She felt even more confident in Matilda's talent.
In the living room, Isaac listened to a report from his staff. He asked, "Where are Rachel and Elmer?"
"They're upstairs."
"Make sure they're ready for Kamille's birthday party tonight. They need to be there by 7 PM."
Kamille's birthday party was an important event, and Isaac wanted to maintain good relations between the South and East districts. This kind of social engagement was best left to the younger generation.
The butler said, "Mr. Elmer doesn't want to go out."
"He doesn't have a choice. He has to go, whether he likes it or not."
"Yes, sir. I'll inform Mr. Elmer right away."
Upstairs in the study, Rachel was propped up on her elbows, watching a show on her tablet, feeling a bit bored. She couldn't resist this lifestyle, as she was under someone else's control. She had to marry Elmer after a week, though it was just a formality. She hadn't found a way to escape, and her watch seemed to have water damage, preventing it from charging and sending out a distress signal.
The only bright spot was that Elmer took her out for some fun every week.
At that moment, she heard an argument outside.
