Chapter 753 Anouk
Natalie shuffled over and gave the woman on the ground a nudge with her elbow.
Natalie thought, 'Gotta wake her up first. Need any help I can use.'
The woman slowly blinked her eyes open, then they went wide with shock. But she kept her cool. She sat up, took a look around, and figured out that Natalie was also kidnapped.
They locked eyes for a few seconds.
Even in this mess, both Natalie and the woman stayed pretty chill.
The woman got on her knees and shuffled over, turning her back to Natalie to work on the ropes. Halfway through, they heard a noise outside and quickly leaned against the wall, playing possum.
A burly man walked in. "These two still out cold?"
Another guy came over. "Yeah, they look good. Bosses will be happy. Make sure they eat when they wake up. We're shipping them out tomorrow night. This batch is prime—one's a knockout, the other's got class. They'll sell high."
The first guy said, "Wait for what? The Butcher's still hunting at the night market, but no luck yet."
The second guy replied, "Wait till tomorrow. If no one else shows, we'll go with these two. Keep an eye on them. No screw-ups."
After they left and the door shut, Natalie and the woman opened their eyes. The woman crawled over, knelt down, and Natalie stood up, carefully peeling the tape off her mouth. The woman used her teeth to gnaw at the rope on Natalie's wrists. After a lot of effort, her lips were raw and bleeding, but she finally got it. Natalie gently peeled the tape off her lips, wincing.
The woman said, "I'm Anouk."
Natalie replied, "Natalie."
Natalie started working on Anouk's wrist ropes. "How'd you get nabbed?"
Anouk said, "I was having dinner when someone said a man was looking for me. I went over, and then I blacked out."
Natalie said, "I was waiting for my boyfriend on the street when I felt a bump on my shoulder, and then I blacked out." Remembering the bump, Natalie pulled down her collar to check her shoulder and saw a small needle mark.
Natalie felt a bit freaked. Good thing it was just a sedative. If it had been something worse, she'd be in deep trouble.
Anouk said, "I had a fight with my husband and went for a walk. Didn't expect this."
Natalie said, "We gotta find a way out. My boyfriend will look for me, but he doesn't know I've been kidnapped."
Natalie reached into her pocket and found her bag was gone. Her phone was missing, too.
Of course, they were kidnapped, and there was no way they'd leave them with a way to call for help.
Natalie crept to the door and found it wasn't locked. She could open it with a gentle pull. Natalie slowly opened the door and peeked out, seeing a guard not far away, but he had his back to them and was drinking.
Natalie suddenly remembered what the kidnappers had said earlier. The more she thought about it, the more scared she got. Anouk was shaking even more, her face pale. Natalie held Anouk's hand, like they were trying to boost each other's courage.
If Natalie had been kidnapped alone, she'd think it was someone out for revenge.
But with Anouk there, too, it meant this was a whole kidnapping ring.
