Chapter 1212 "I Forfeit"
Claire glanced at the chessboard, and Joe immediately said, "Claire is betting on me to win."
Claire laughed and said, "Who said that? Who gave you the right to decide for me?"
Despite her laughter, Claire still placed a bet on Joe.
Melissa thought for a moment, but before she could decide, Joe said, "Alright, alright, I know you're going to bet on Natalie. After all, I'm not that important."
Everyone turned their attention to Adrian. "Adrian, make a choice."
Everyone here was family, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. No one cared about the bets; it was all for fun.
One of the players was Adrian's dad, and the other was Adrian's wife, making the scene lively. Naturally, Adrian had to make a choice, and all eyes were on him.
Adrian said, "Isn't this putting me in a tough spot? How about I abstain?"
"That's not fair. Claire has already made her choice, and you haven't. Adrian, you have to pick Natalie," Melissa said with a smile.
Ruben stroked his beard and smiled as well.
The small chess room was filled with lively chatter.
Natalie slightly pursed her lips. Adrian was standing behind her, out of her line of sight.
She held a chess piece, surrounded by the lively atmosphere, but she was thinking about how Adrian would choose.
Even though this bet was just a family game and didn't mean much, she still held her breath slightly, waiting for his answer.
Adrian glanced at the chessboard, looking at Natalie's slender but straight back. Her long hair draped over her shoulders, seemingly longer than before.
The chess room was filled with the scent of wood, but he seemed to catch a faint whiff of her cherry blossom fragrance, a subtle and distant scent.
He said softly, "Natalie."
"You traitor! You're abandoning me already!" Joe naturally didn't take it to heart and laughed. He knew Adrian would choose Natalie and jokingly scolded him.
Not just him, but everyone around wasn't surprised by Adrian's choice.
Adrian laughed and said, "Dad, the black side is going to lose. Of course, I want a house."
"You!" Joe looked at the chessboard. Indeed, the black side was losing.
Natalie, this little girl, was really impressive.
He was on the verge of tears, realizing he was about to lose that piece of wood.
Three more minutes passed.
Joe, playing black, slowly put down his piece.
Quincy, on the side, laughed, "You lost, Joe."
Joe glared at Quincy, "This is Natalie playing against me. If it were you sitting here, you would have lost ten minutes ago."
Claire said, "Joe, I told you Natalie is very good at chess. You have to be careful against her."
Joe said, "That was just a warm-up game. I didn't give it my all. In the second game, I'll be serious. Natalie, watch out."
Natalie nodded with a smile, "I only won the first game because you went easy on me. I'll do my best in the second game too."
Quincy said, "Natalie, go all out. I believe in you. No problem at all. In this game, catch him off guard."
Quincy had observed the first game and noticed that Natalie's chess skills were on par with Joe's.
However, Natalie was very good at setting up traps. Within twenty moves, she had set up the board, and Joe, with one careless move, fell into her trap and was immediately controlled.
