Chapter 274 Family Dinner
Curtis came home and blew up at Avery.
They had a massive fight. Avery jabbed a finger at him. "You still have feelings for Rosalie! Don't forget how you got here. You failed in your business, and it was my family's money that saved you!"
Curtis, now a successful man, hated being reminded of his past failures. His pride was wounded, and his anger peaked. "Yeah, I still like Rosalie. So what? Look at the Reed family now—do they even exist? Avery, everything you have is because of me. The million-dollar diamond necklace you're wearing? That's from the Cullen Group! I've been way too lenient with you!"
He kicked over the coffee table, spilling coffee and cups everywhere, then stormed out of the study.
Avery was stunned. What?
Did he just admit he still had feelings for Rosalie?
Avery screamed like a madwoman, tearing and smashing everything in sight, then collapsed onto the carpet.
Her eyes filled with venom, she blamed Rosalie and Natalie for the mess between her and Curtis.
Meanwhile, despite the chaos in the study, Alice in the bedroom didn't care. She clutched a pendant, smiling as she prepared a low-cut dress to show off the diamond pendant at the Howard family’s banquet in two days.
No matter how loud the noise outside, she ignored it.
Nothing was more important than becoming Adrian's wife.
Alice changed into a white feathered fringe long dress with a deep V-neck. She put on the diamond pendant, twirled around, and although the pendant wasn't high-end, it looked elegant with the dress. She was very satisfied.
Saturday.
Alice got dressed early, checked the time—4:30 PM—and had the driver take her to the Howard family.
As soon as she got out of the car.
"Ms. Cullen, you're here. Mrs. Howard is practicing calligraphy. I'll go inform her."
"Is Adrian here? Has he arrived?"
"Mr. Howard is on his way."
Rachel walked in, and Alice greeted her. Rachel nodded and sat on the sofa, ignoring Alice. Alice smiled outwardly but inwardly wished she could slap Rachel.
Alice sat on the sofa, waiting for two minutes before Claire came downstairs. She stood up, "Aunt Claire."
"You're here, have a seat." Claire walked over, holding Alice's fingers as they sat on the sofa. Alice's dress was very form-fitting today, making her belly look rounder. Claire was pleased. "How have you been? Have you been taking the medicine I sent over on time?"
"Pretty good, the baby is very well-behaved," Alice said, subtly playing with the diamond pendant on her neck.
Rachel looked up, "Is your neck cramping or is your hand cramping? Why are you moving around so much?"
Alice's smile froze, "I..."
Claire interjected, "Rachel, is that how you talk to your sister-in-law?"
Rachel pouted. "She's not yet." She played with her phone, seemingly unintentionally, "In all of Vachilit, is there a single young woman who doesn't dream of marrying Adrian? Who knows if the baby in her belly is even Adrian's."
Alice's face turned pale.
Then she pretended to be hurt. "Rachel, how can you think of me like that!"
When it came to the baby, Claire's voice grew stern, "Rachel!"
