Chapter 1211 What Did She Get?
He completely ignored her.
She twisted her fingers, and even if she couldn't understand, she still forced a smile, listening to Claire and Melissa chatting beside her.
Claire said, "I think Natalie is going to win this round."
Melissa replied, "I think so too. Joe seems to be holding back. The black side's momentum hasn't been suppressed. I don't know what he's holding back or if he's unsure about making a decisive move, so he's just playing it safe. Look at this game, every move Joe makes seems a bit hesitant."
Melissa continued, looking at Andrea standing beside her. She smiled and said, "This game is rare, having Natalie and Joe face off. Both are very skilled. Joe was taught by Ruben himself. Natalie is quite a surprise. Andrea, do you understand the game? I remember when I played chess with Quincy as a kid, you liked to watch from the side."
Andrea naturally didn't understand. Her face turned slightly pale, her almond eyes trembling, looking gentle and pitiful. "I don't really understand, but they both seem very skilled."
Claire nodded and said, "Yes, both are very skilled. If they play three games, it will go on until tomorrow. If it really takes that long, we can set up a table and have the chef bring the food to the chess room."
Andrea's eyelashes trembled. "Isn't that against the rules?"
"It's rare for the family to be happy together. Look at how happy Ruben is. As long as we're happy, who cares about the rules?"
Andrea saw the smiles on Melissa and Claire's faces, and she felt increasingly uncomfortable.
Everyone was focused on Natalie, paying attention to her, while she felt like a transparent person, unnoticed and uncared for.
Adrian's eyes were on Natalie, Jamie's eyes were on Natalie, and even the weekly family dinner was delayed or rescheduled because of Natalie.
How could someone from such a humble background get so much attention and affection?
What did she get after waking up from a seven-year coma?
She got nothing.
Instead, she lost the person she loved the most.
Everyone's eyes were on the chess game. No one noticed that Andrea's usually gentle and kind face was slowly becoming twisted.
She retreated to the back, watching this family gathering where she felt like an outsider.
Her gaze fell on Adrian's tall and upright back.
When Natalie made a move, Andrea's eyes lit up, and a smile appeared on her lips.
Her pupils were filled with unwillingness and resentment. 'Adrian, do you care about Natalie that much too?'
Rachel suggested, "Since Natalie and Joe are betting on this game, why don't we, the spectators, place some bets too? I bet on Natalie to win."
Ruben laughed heartily, "Alright, Jeffery, go to my study and get the document from the second drawer. Whoever wins gets a building from the Howard Group."
"Ruben, you're so generous."
Rachel raised her hand, "I bet on Natalie to win."
Natalie coughed, "I bet on myself too."
Joe said, "I bet on myself."
A building was nothing. Everyone here owned several properties and was quite wealthy.
But gathering together was about having fun. No matter the stakes, having fun was what mattered.
