Chapter 532 Avery Goes to Find Natalie
Seeing Curtis's face, Alice knew he was a no-go. She spun around to Avery, desperate. "Mom, you see this? I knew it! Dad's totally on Natalie's side!"
Ever since Rosalie got out of the loony bin, Curtis and Avery had been at each other's throats. Rosalie's grudge against Natalie just kept getting worse.
Avery chimed in, "Curtis, you can't pin this on Alice. And seriously, making her apologize over and over? Alice is our daughter and the future queen bee of the Howard family. Every move of hers represents both the Cullen and Howard families. Making her grovel is like slapping the Howard Group in the face. We can handle our own mess, but the Howard Group..."
Curtis mulled it over and nodded. "Yeah, you're right, Avery. Thanks for the heads-up."
Avery continued, "To squash this drama, I think we should have Natalie apologize."
"What?" Curtis looked puzzled.
Even Alice was taken aback.
"Mom, how could she possibly apologize to me? She hasn't even said a word." Alice, despite her beef with Natalie, knew this mess started because she lost her cool and cursed out a marketing account.
Making Natalie apologize? That'd just blow things up even more.
Avery smirked, "I've got a plan." He'd been scheming for a while. Natalie was Rosalie's precious daughter. If he could control Natalie, getting back at Rosalie would be a breeze.
Curtis and Alice leaned in to hear Avery's plot.
"We can take Natalie in as a goddaughter. Alice and Natalie look alike, and since Natalie used to work as a maid in our house, we can spin this to make Alice look good. Natalie can be your sister, and you were just messing around with her."
Alice was on board with Avery's idea. If Natalie admitted to being her sister, the online hate would chill out.
But making Natalie a goddaughter of the Cullen family? That was a tough pill to swallow.
"Mom, do we really have to take Natalie in as a goddaughter? Just thinking about being with that maid..." Alice was about to whine when she saw Curtis's icy stare. She swallowed the word 'maid.'
Curtis said, "This could work, but how can you be sure Natalie will go for it? You know how you treated Rosalie back then."
Avery shrugged, "Our family's loaded. Compared to us, Natalie got nothing. Her dad drives for Osborn, her mom cleans here, and she was born to be a maid in our house. What's she got to complain about?"
Curtis sighed, glanced at Avery, and shook his head. Alice was spoiled rotten, mostly because of Avery's influence.
He'd been too swamped with work to set Alice straight.
Curtis knew Natalie well. "She won't agree, but the rest of the plan might work."
Curtis stood up, called the driver, and grabbed his coat, ready to head out.
Avery stopped him. "Curtis, where are you going?"
Curtis replied, "I'm going to talk to Natalie."
Avery said, "Let me go. You've been running around all day; you need a break."
Curtis looked at Avery. "Where are you going?"
