Chapter 372 Concealment
An hour later, they wheeled Rosalie out of the ER. The doctor came out, took off his mask, and looked at Natalie. "Are you her family?"
Natalie rushed over. "I'm her daughter."
The doctor said, "She's stable now. She has a history of kidney issues. The coma happened because she missed her meds. Make sure she takes them on time!"
Natalie asked, "Thank you, doctor. How is she now?"
The doctor replied, "She's showing signs of improvement, but be careful from now on."
Natalie nodded. "Got it. I will."
Natalie went to the ward. Rosalie was still out, hooked up to various tubes and an IV. Natalie sat by her side, feeling her breath. Only then did she feel some relief.
She thought about the doctor's words.
How could Rosalie miss her meds?
She took them every morning and always had a dose with her.
Rosalie was fine when she left in the morning.
Natalie always reminded her to take her medication on time.
After the incident at Shoreview General Hospital, where Avery detained her and stopped her meds, Rosalie had been very careful.
It didn't make sense. She'd have to wait until Rosalie woke up to find out.
Rosalie woke up in the evening. Natalie was reading a book on acting. Hearing Rosalie's voice, she quickly put down her pen and helped her sit up.
"Mom, you're awake. What happened today? You scared me."
Rosalie took a moment to gather her thoughts. "Natalie, where are we?"
"We're in the hospital! You fainted by the roadside. Someone called 911. The doctor said you missed your meds. What happened?"
Rosalie's eyes dodged, and Natalie noticed.
"I forgot. I just forgot. I'll remember next time."
"That's not possible, Mom. What really happened?" Natalie pressed.
"I just forgot. Do you think I'd lie to you?" Rosalie held Natalie's fingers. "Don't worry. I won't forget again. I'll be careful."
Natalie didn't believe her.
But Rosalie clearly didn't want to talk. She kept dodging, hiding something. Natalie pressed her lips together. Rosalie was weak after surgery. She couldn't push her. Better to let her recover first.
"Mom, you should rest. The doctor said you need to stay for a few days."
Rosalie refused, "Stay in the hospital again? I'm fine now. Don't make me stay. Help me with the discharge papers. It's too expensive here."
Natalie insisted. "Mom, you have to stay! Listen to me. You rest here. I'll go home and get you some clothes."
Rosalie agreed. "Okay."
Natalie went home, grabbed some clothes, and a thin blanket for the night. She noticed a diary fall out of the closet. She paused but didn't read it. She just put it back.
She didn't want to know about Rosalie's past anymore.
She just wanted Rosalie to be healthy.
Rosalie was her only family. She didn't want to think about anything else.
Everyone had their own secrets, even Natalie. No one wanted their secrets discovered.
She didn't want to pry into Rosalie's secrets anymore.
As long as Rosalie stayed healthy and with her, that was enough.
She brought the clothes to the hospital. Rosalie was asleep from the meds. Natalie had classes in the afternoon but couldn't leave. She sat in the chair, organizing her morning lessons.
In the evening, Natalie took a leave and didn't go to the Imperial Nightclub, asking Denise to cover for her. She stayed by Rosalie's side.
All night, she barely slept, waking up several times to check on Rosalie. Seeing she was okay, she finally felt at ease.
