Chapter 1177 Begging
Derek still had something to say to Natalie, so he called out to her, "Natalie."
Natalie stopped in her tracks.
There was a coffee shop nearby.
Derek glanced at Adrian, whose gaze was icy. "Natalie, I have a few things to say to you."
"Okay, let's talk in this coffee shop."
Aurelia sneaked a glance at Adrian. This "Mr. Howard" from the Howard family was indeed as cold and distant as the rumors said. Even though Aurelia was only about six feet away from Adrian, she could feel the chill.
She was curious about what Derek wanted to say to Natalie, but if Derek didn't tell her voluntarily, she wouldn't ask.
Inside the coffee shop, Natalie ordered two cups of coffee.
Because the shop wasn't very busy, the coffee came quickly.
"Natalie, I need to go to Meadowbrook City for about 15 to 20 days."
"Meadowbrook City? A border city of Solstice, it's quite chaotic there. What are you going there for?"
As a border city of Solstice, Meadowbrook City had experienced a riot just a few months ago.
Derek didn't hide anything. "An elder of mine is trapped on the Ocean Harmony. This cruise ship opens once every 10 days, and it will open in 3 days. I must go there to rescue my elder."
"But the journey is dangerous, and I'm afraid I might not make it back. Natalie, if I don't return, I'm sorry, but I won't be able to help you with the Elysian Fields Nightclub."
Natalie bit her lip. "Is it really that dangerous? Do you have to go?"
"That elder is my teacher; I can't not go."
"But you don't have to risk your life."
Natalie and Derek were not in a master-servant relationship, nor were they employer and bodyguard. Over the years, she had come to see Derek as a friend.
"Aurelia is what I can't let go of. She's too naive. If I don't come back, Natalie, I have a request. I hope that in the future, if Aurelia encounters difficulties, you can help her. She doesn't like being constrained by the family or arranged marriages. She likes free love. If possible, if she ever needs help, I hope you can assist her."
Natalie lowered her voice. "Does she know that you're facing danger this time?"
"I haven't told her everything."
"Do you really have to go?"
"I have to."
"Alright, I understand. As a friend, I know that once you've made up your mind, it's hard to change it. I hope that when you face danger and difficulties, you won't give up easily, because Vachilit has people you love, friends, and dreams you want to fight for."
Natalie walked out with two cups of coffee.
She held one for herself and handed the other to Adrian, who had been waiting for her.
"Here, I know you've been waiting for a while."
Adrian didn't take it. He glanced at Natalie, then at Derek, and turned to walk away.
Natalie caught up to him. "Aren't you going to drink it? I specifically ordered two cups. If you don't drink it, I'll have to drink both."
They walked all the way to the underground parking lot.
Adrian got into the car but didn't leave immediately, clearly waiting for Natalie.
Natalie walked slowly, unable to keep up with Adrian's long strides. She jogged to catch up, but tripped on a small stone and twisted her ankle, wincing in pain.
Adrian, sitting in the car, rolled down the window and saw Natalie squatting down with a pale face.
He immediately got out of the car.
In a few steps, Adrian reached her and checked her ankle.
Seeing that it wasn't serious, he was relieved. He picked her up and placed her in the back seat. "Such a hassle. You can't even walk without twisting your ankle. What can you do?"
