Chapter 159 Responsibility Towards Her
Wade never expected Adrian to ask him such a question. Was Natalie attractive? Natalie, the gentle-looking woman? Wade didn't dare to answer. He glanced at Colby, thinking this might be a trap set by Adrian.
Colby, on the side, heard and said, "Anyway, Natalie is the type I like, pure and gentle." Before Colby could finish his words, Wade gave him a stern look. Did he say something wrong?
Why did Wade glare at him?
"Adrian, don't you think Natalie looks very young? She has a good temperament," Colby continued, "like a college student who has just entered university, wearing a white dress, smiling youthfully and cleanly."
Suddenly, Colby noticed Adrian glaring at him, too, with Adrian's expression turning increasingly unpleasant!
"Adrian, I suddenly feel a stomach ache. I need to go to the restroom." Colby finally realized something was amiss. It seemed like if he said one more word, Adrian might kill him. Colby pretended to be in pain, clutching his stomach, quickly finding an excuse to run out.
Feeling the tension around him, Wade nervously wiped the sweat off his forehead. He thought they might have to carry Colby out later.
After all, Colby wouldn't stand a hit from Adrian.
However, Adrian's taste had changed.
Now, he liked women like Natalie.
But Adrian was already engaged to Alice.
Although Wade also knew that Alice had saved Adrian, Adrian felt only a sense of responsibility towards her.
Now that Alice was pregnant, what would happen to the Howard family?
Natalie returned home, expecting Avery to be angry when she found out. She was prepared to confront Avery, but it seemed like Avery was unaware of what had happened.
Without delay, Natalie changed into a different outfit and went to see Rosalie alone.
A black veil still obscured Natalie's vision. She couldn't see anything clearly until she reached the ward and removed it.
Rosalie was covered in various tubes, looking like she could pass away at any moment.
Natalie widened her eyes, her heart-wrenching.
"Mom, Mom!"
Natalie immediately rushed to the bedside.
Rosalie had rapidly lost weight in the past few days, her entire face sunken, cheeks waxen yellow. Tears filled Natalie's eyes as Rosalie opened her eyes. "Natalie, you're here."
"Mom, what happened? Weren't you getting better? How did it suddenly turn out like this?" Natalie sobbed.
"Natalie, there's something I need to tell you."
Rosalie's emaciated hand grabbed Natalie's finger.
Rosalie's voice was hoarse and weak.
"Your father and your brother's deaths were not accidents."
Natalie's pupils contracted.
"Mom."
"That wasn't an accident. Go find someone named Jerry Allen. He will tell you everything. Also, don't worry about me, you should leave and live the life you want, go wherever you wish, I can't accompany you anymore," Rosalie said weakly.
"No, Mom, you've already had the kidney transplant surgery. As long as you take your medication on time, you'll be fine. Mom, I will take you away. I will definitely take you away!" Natalie said desperately.
"Natalie, behind my wardrobe, there's an iron box with a diamond pendant inside. Take good care of that pendant. If in the future, Avery bullies you, give that pendant to Curtis..." Rosalie said.
"Mom, please stop. You'll be fine. I'll go to Mrs. Cullen right now and beg her to release you," Natalie said as she choked back tears.
"Don't go." Rosalie held onto Natalie's finger.
Natalie's face was pressed against her mother's withered hand.
Rosalie caressed Natalie's cheek. "Natalie, promise me one thing."
