Chapter 373 Surveillance

Rosalie stayed in the hospital for three days before getting discharged.

Natalie went to handle the discharge paperwork, but there was a long line.

The hospital was packed, full of life's ups and downs. It took about twenty minutes for Natalie to reach the front. After finishing the paperwork, she headed upstairs.

The elevator was crowded, stopping frequently. On the second floor, people kept getting in and out.

Natalie spotted a familiar face—Jagger. He saw her too.

They locked eyes for a few seconds before Natalie looked away.

The elevator crawled up, stopping almost every floor. Finally, on the 10th floor, Natalie and Jagger got out.

Natalie walked ahead, head down.

Behind her, Jagger called, "Natalie."

She stopped. "Dr. Kamel."

Jagger glanced at her. "What are you doing here? Is your mom okay?"

He added, "I had some family stuff and took a few days off. Today's my first day back."

Natalie replied, "My mom fainted on the street three days ago. The doctor said she missed her anti-rejection meds. She's been in the hospital for three days and is getting discharged today."

Jagger asked for the medical records, and Natalie handed them over.

Jagger, who had been Rosalie's doctor, quickly reviewed the records. "This doesn't add up. A kidney patient wouldn't forget their meds unless something happened."

Natalie agreed. "I asked my mom, but she wouldn't say. She must have her reasons."

Jagger warned, "You can't let it happen again. Her kidney isn't her own, and if it gets damaged, she can't handle another transplant. Be more careful."

"I understand," Natalie nodded.

Patients and nurses passed by, greeting Jagger warmly.

Jagger was well-liked, and everyone called him "Dr. Kamel" with a smile.

Jagger nodded back humbly.

"Thanks, Dr. Kamel," Natalie said. "I won't keep you."

Jagger watched her walk away, his hands slowly clenching.

Sometimes, when you miss a chance, it's really gone.

He wanted to tell Natalie he and Traylor had broken up.

After taking Rosalie home and settling her in, Natalie prepared lunch and then left. She went to the spot where Rosalie had fainted. She noticed a convenience store across the street.

She crossed over and asked, "Can I check the surveillance footage?"

The footage covered the area across the street.

The clerk pulled up the footage and rewound to three days ago at noon.

Natalie watched closely.

Pedestrians came and went, and she saw Rosalie walk by.

Rosalie looked unwell, even on camera. She sat on a bench, breathing heavily, then tried to cross the street. After a few steps, she bent over in pain and collapsed. People gathered, called for help, and contacted Natalie.

Where had Rosalie been that morning?
