Chapter 453 Control

Bella was chillin' on the couch, scoping out the Reynolds fam.

The Reynolds clan lived in the southern part of Vachilit. It wasn't exactly poppin', but it was right by the pretty Lake Joy. The property prices in this area were sky-high, not something you could buy with just money.

Their living room had this old-school vibe, showing off the owner's fancy taste.

Then, footsteps echoed from upstairs.

"Bella got up and saw a middle-aged lady in a blue dress coming down, wearing a matching blue gem pendant around her neck.

Her makeup was on point, not too much, making it hard to believe this was Cassidy.

So, what's the tea on Cassidy?

She was Xavier's third wife.

Xavier's first wife was Brandy Bailey, daughter of Emberlyn's top jeweler. She had two sons, Austin and Nicholas. His second wife was from a regular family and had a daughter and a son, but they both tragically died, leading her to a mental breakdown and a psych ward.

Then came Cassidy.

When Xavier started Vanguard Innovations Group, Cassidy merged it with Apex Holdings Group, throwing money into over thirty projects. The first year, they lost $100 million, but Xavier didn't sweat it. By the second year, they were raking in $400 million. By then, Xavier had already blown up the Reynolds Group and wasn't paying much attention to Vanguard.

Xavier was a total player back in the day, leaving his wife at home while he messed around. Eventually, he brought Cassidy into the Reynolds fam. Brandy put up with his flings since they were just that—flings. But Xavier pushed it too far. He never really liked Brandy, and after a huge fight, Brandy temporarily yanked his shares, making him toe the line.

Around that time, Vanguard Innovations Group went public.

That's when Xavier finally saw what Cassidy was made of.

Cassidy came from a humble background; her folks were just regular workers. Brandon liked her too, but Xavier was already hitched to Brandy.

In the fourth year of Vanguard Innovations Group, Cassidy split it from Apex Holdings Group, pulling in a net income of $900 million. It wasn't a big deal for the Reynolds Group, but she was stoked, thinking she finally got the Reynolds fam's respect. She figured with enough cash, she could double the profits.

She'd been overlooked her whole life and craved some recognition.

But Brandon started getting suspicious of her.

If a woman like her got into the Reynolds Group, it could spell trouble.

Brandon, being old, knew he didn't have much time left and was making plans. The Reynolds Group couldn't fall into Cassidy's hands.

Bella didn't know all the nitty-gritty details.

She just heard that when Brandy's health was tanking, Cassidy showed up at the Reynolds place.

A few years later, Cassidy got pregnant and had a son.

Then, the eldest Reynolds son, Austin, had a car accident.

It's been six years since that crash. Brandon died last year, and Xavier's been in and out of the hospital with heart issues lately.

Even though Cassidy wasn't running the Reynolds Group directly, most of the current crew were folks she brought over from her Vanguard days.

They'd taken over the Reynolds Group.
