Chapter 405 Embrace and Kiss
Natalie felt a warm fuzz in her chest from his simple words.
She grabbed the doll and asked, "If I hadn't shown up tonight, would you have waited?" Before Adrian could even reply, she added, "Your time's so valuable, I wouldn't buy it if you said you'd wait for me."
"How can you be so sure" Adrian shot back with a gentle smile, looking all casual. "Ms. Teeger, can I have the honor of inviting you to a movie?"
They picked a rom-com and headed to the screening room.
Halfway through, there was this scene where the leads planned to catch a flick together, but the guy didn't show 'cause something came up. Total cliché. The side chick stopped him from going. The girl waited in the theater for an hour before he finally showed.
The girl looked upset. "If it were me today, and I was out with another guy while you were waiting in the theater, would you wait for me?"
The guy didn't even blink, "Of course I would!"
Super cheesy but kinda touching.
Suddenly, a deep voice whispered in Natalie's ear, "I would too."
Natalie was floored. Was she hearing things?
How else could she hear a voice other than the movie?
Was it Adrian?
In the movie, the girl asked, "How long would you wait for me? As long as I waited for you?"
The guy replied, "I wanna watch movies with you forever."
Then they hugged.
It was a super touching scene, with all the emotional music and stuff.
Natalie had a question stuck in her throat.
She wanted to ask Adrian, if she hadn't come tonight, how long would he wait?
Obviously, she wouldn't get the same answer from the movie.
She whispered, "Adrian, next time we watch a movie, I won't be late. I'll be on time."
'Cause she was willing to be the one waiting for him.
On the screen, the two characters kept kissing. Those in love would find it sweet, while the heartbroken would find it bitter.
Natalie lowered her eyes. She suddenly felt a bit off and needed some fresh air.
She said, "Adrian, I'm heading to the restroom."
The restroom was outside the theater. Natalie splashed some water on her face. She knew she'd never be the leading lady, just the side character between Adrian and Alice. She should've treated her thing with Adrian as a game; he wanted her body, and she wanted resources.
But she had fallen for him long ago.
When did she start liking Adrian?
Maybe when she got pregnant with his kid.
Or when he shielded her from the cup Avery threw at her.
Or maybe even earlier, from the first time they met.
After a few minutes outside, Natalie went back to the theater.
From brightness to pitch black, she couldn't see a thing. She reached the sixth row and walked in. As she passed Adrian, she tripped and almost fell. Adrian caught her.
Natalie felt a bit embarrassed but looked down at Adrian's long legs and whispered, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
"I was coming over, and you stretched your legs out so far."
Adrian smirked and whispered hoarsely, "What if I said yes?"
Natalie was stunned.
Suddenly, his hand on her waist lifted her onto his lap. His lips met hers, and Natalie's eyes widened. They were in a movie theater.
She reached out to push his chest. But the next second, he caught her fingers.
