Chapter 1039 Explain It All at Once
Heather pulled out her tablet from her bag, trying to handle some work for Dynamic Entertainment while waiting for Cassidy to wrap up her meeting. She took a sip of her coffee and immediately regretted it. It tasted awful. She grimaced and set the cup down.
As the VP of Dynamic Entertainment, Heather was always swamped. Lately, she’d signed a few new talents who seemed promising, and she was eager to see what they could do.
By 4 PM, Heather had had enough. She got up and walked over to the reception desk. "Excuse me, is Mrs. Reynolds done with her meeting yet?"
"Mrs. Reynolds is still busy. Ms. Ross, please wait a little longer."
Heather knew Cassidy was making her wait on purpose. "Forget it," she muttered.
She headed straight for the elevator. Cassidy’s office was on the 6th floor. When she got there, she marched right up to the office door.
The assistant at the door stopped her. "Ma'am, do you have an appointment?"
"I'm Heather, here to see Mrs. Reynolds."
The assistant could tell Heather meant business and went inside to check.
When the assistant came back out, she said, "Ms. Ross, you can go in."
Heather walked into Cassidy's office.
Cassidy’s office had this fancy Vistalia-style decor. The lounge area was huge, with a big bookshelf behind a gray leather couch. Behind Cassidy’s desk was a massive painting, an original by some famous artist, auctioned off in Lundon for two hundred million dollars three years ago.
Heather hadn’t expected the Duncan family to snag that painting.
Cassidy was lounging on the sofa, sipping her coffee. She glanced up at Heather and followed her gaze. "What do you think of the painting? Recognize it?"
"Mrs. Reynolds, you know why I’m here," Heather cut to the chase. "You think I’m not good enough for Yancy, so you’re trying to break us up. Ever since Yancy came back from your birthday party, you’ve been keeping him away from me."
Cassidy smirked, looking at Heather with a mix of amusement and disdain. "Ms. Ross, you’re giving yourself too much credit."
Cassidy took another sip of her coffee, clearly enjoying the moment.
Cassidy pulled out her phone. "You think I’m controlling Yancy? He’s a grown man. If he’s not seeing you, it’s because he doesn’t want to. He’s trying to let you down easy, but you’re not getting the hint."
Heather’s face went pale. "No way!"
Cassidy dialed Yancy’s number. "Hey, Yancy. Your ex, Heather, is here in my office. She wants to see you. You should clear things up with her."
Heather clenched her fists, trying to keep her cool. She knew Cassidy was doing this to get under her skin.
Cassidy put the call on speaker and set the phone on the desk, giving Heather a smug look. "Go ahead, say what you need to say."
