Chapter 703 Kindness would Only Invite Bullies
Right now, Samantha was eyeing Natalie like a hawk, her fists clenched so tight her knuckles were white.
She was praying for something, anything, to happen to Natalie, like, right now.
But Lydia had drilled it into her head not to do anything stupid and mess things up for her.
This movie was Lydia's last shot at a comeback.
Lydia had practically begged everyone to get this gig.
Still, Samantha wasn't getting the prime gigs.
She was scraping by with live streaming, just barely making ends meet.
Samantha was the lead in Summer Time, and she'd been hitting up promo events left and right without a second thought.
Her hustle had earned her some brownie points with the producers, setting her up for future gigs.
Samantha was so over being blacklisted.
If this movie could hit a billion at the box office, even if Dynamic Entertainment Media kept her blacklisted and didn't give her any gigs, other doors would open for her. She wouldn't have to sweat Natalie anymore.
After the promo event, the media threw some questions at Natalie.
She handled them like a pro.
As Natalie was about to bounce, Samantha called out, "Natalie."
In the dressing room, Samantha was practically grinding her teeth. "Natalie, I'm begging you, I know I messed up. Please lift the ban on me."
Natalie looked at her. Up close, despite the flawless makeup on her face, Samantha's features and skin were just average. Natalie wasn't a stone-cold person. When she said she'd blacklist Samantha forever, She was in the heat of the moment. If Samantha owned up to her mistakes, Natalie wouldn't be too harsh.
These past six months must've been hell for Samantha.
Natalie said, "From now on, focus on your acting. This movie is a big deal for you. Take every job seriously. I'll have my agent talk to the higher-ups at Dynamic Entertainment Media. Just drop the attitude, okay?"
"Absolutely." Samantha nodded like a bobblehead.
After Natalie left, Samantha's eyes flashed with resentment.
She felt like she'd wasted the last six months. 'Natalie, you better stay on your high horse and keep your backup. Or I'll make you regret it!'
In the car, Heather asked, "Natalie, are you really gonna let Samantha off the hook?"
Natalie replied, "Yeah. Six months of her life down the drain is enough. You know me, I'm a softie."
Heather said, "Natalie, you're too nice."
"Alright. What can Samantha really do? Consider these six months her punishment." Natalie held Heather's hand. "Okay, Heather, from now on, I'll do whatever you say."
Heather wasn't mad but felt bad for Natalie.
Heather had met a lot of entertainers, and Natalie was the real deal, sweet, never causing drama. On set, she was all about the work, knew her lines cold, and was always taking acting classes to get better.
However, kindness would only invite bullies.
Lately, Natalie had been chilling at home, and Summer Time hit theaters as planned.
Natalie and Heather went to catch it on opening night.
