Chapter 674 Refusal
Samuel never thought a simple like would freak Natalie out.
He didn't overthink it; he just thought Natalie looked cute and the pics were dope, so he hit like.
Natalie was a sweet girl. Samuel was definitely into her.
"So, it's 'cause I liked your Facebook selfie, right?" Samuel asked.
Natalie nodded. "I thought maybe you just slipped or one of your staff logged in and did it by mistake."
"So, you want me to unlike it?" Samuel asked.
Natalie nodded again.
"I was helping a buddy promote a new movie and saw your selfie, so I liked it. It was really well taken. Is it causing you any trouble?" Samuel knew he had a ton of fans, mostly girls, and some might say nasty or crazy stuff.
He didn't think much of it at the time.
Natalie shook her head and looked at Samuel seriously. "I was worried it might have a negative impact on you."
That was a first for Samuel.
His handsome face showed a flicker of surprise.
In the entertainment biz, Samuel was at the top. Whether it was his hit works or his fan base, he’d been killing it for a long time. It was the first time someone said they were worried a "like" from him might backfire on him.
Natalie held a glass of milk Samuel had offered her, her fair fingers gripping it slightly. "I have a boyfriend, and you know him, Adrian."
Samuel sat on the sofa, legs crossed.
Hearing Adrian's name, Samuel dropped his face a bit.
That name was definitely well-known.
When Natalie signed with Dynamic Entertainment, Samuel could tell Adrian was backing her.
"I know Adrian. The first time I met you was at that island party he threw. Natalie, do you think by a like of me to your photo, Adrian would get pissed and come after me?" Samuel's eyes showed a glimmer of gentle smile. He looked refined and handsome. "You're worried about me."
Natalie stood up. "Samuel, I'm serious."
Natalie couldn't fall for anyone else.
Loving Adrian had drained her over the past twenty-three years.
From now on, Natalie just wanted to be free.
Her voice was gentle and delicate as she revealed her inner thoughts. "Samuel, I need to be clear. You've been great to me, and in the entertainment industry, you're like a mentor who’s taught me a lot. I really don't want to drag you down. I was deeply in love, which exhausted me. But apart from Adrian, I won't love anyone else. I don't want to talk about relationships anymore; I just want to focus on my work. Samuel, you're amazing and have a great rep and awards, so I would only drag you down."
Samuel's lips pressed together slightly, his eyes seemed to dim a bit, but he quickly hid it. In a firm voice, he asked, "You love Adrian."
Natalie nodded. "Yes."
Samuel stated, "Natalie, he has a fiancée. Your love will only lead to your downfall."
Natalie didn't respond to that. "Samuel, I'm very grateful to have met you in the entertainment industry. I hope you will always be my mentor and my friend."
After Natalie left, Samuel opened a bottle of wine from the cabinet, took a sip, and thought, 'So, have I just been rejected?'
He smelled the faint scent of cherry blossoms in the air left behind by Natalie.
