Chapter 628 The Male Lead

The male lead in the story was a newbie cop named Landon.

Zoey and Landon teamed up to clear up some messed-up conviction from a decade ago.

Oscar's script was fire. No wonder everyone in entertainment industry was clawing at each other to snag a part.

Natalie decided to hustle hard.

She had to grab this chance.

Right then, there were footsteps, a knock, and the screech of a chair scraping the floor.

Oscar said, "Here he comes."

Samuel Russell walked in, saying, "Sorry I'm late. Left two hours early, but the rain had traffic all jammed up."

Oscar replied, "No biggie, man. Safety first."

Natalie recognized that voice.

She looked up and saw Samuel heading her way. He was rocking a comfy silver-gray tracksuit, tall and lean. He pulled out a chair and sat next to her.

Natalie's eyes widened a bit. "Mr. Russell?"

Samuel grinned. "Hey, Natalie."

"Small world," Natalie said, shaking his hand.

Samuel pulled out the chair and murmured, "Not really."

Natalie thought she misheard him.

She didn't quite catch what Samuel said because of the screech of Samuel's chair.

Samuel didn't say more and started chatting with Oscar.

Oscar was a big fan of Samuel. Samuel had skills, a solid rep, and loved a good challenge.

He also had a knack for picking roles.

With Samuel on board, Oscar felt even better about his script.

Oscar introduced, "Samuel, this is Natalie, playing Zoey, our leading lady."

Natalie straightened up, ready to say something polite. But before she could, Samuel said, "I know Natalie. We're old pals."

Oscar looked surprised. "You know Natalie?"

Not just Oscar, but the whole crew was shocked. Samuel was a big deal, with awards and a great rep. Him playing the male lead was a big deal, especially since the movie focused on the female lead.

Everyone thought Natalie got the role through connections.

So the male lead had to be a lesser-known actor.

But nope, it was Samuel, and he actually knew Natalie.

Natalie smiled calmly, her voice soft. "Mr. Russell and I have crossed paths a few times."

Samuel nodded. "You could say she's my junior. Natalie's got potential."

Hearing that, Oscar started to see Natalie with mounting respect.

Maybe Natalie could bring something fresh to the film.

For the next two hours, Oscar broke down the main plot and analyzed each character. Natalie was always jotting down notes. She believed that while the brain could remember stuff, writing it down was more reliable. It was a bit old-school, but as a newbie, the director's advice was gold. Natalie even thought about taking notes of what he said and review it back at the hotel.
