Chapter 831 Shabby
Carlos definitely had a thing for Alice.
After all, she was gorgeous, and they’d known each other forever.
They had this plan where Alice would fake a fainting spell to get an abortion because an ectopic pregnancy is no joke. They decided to wait until after Christmas so Alice could hang out with the Howard family, meet the big shots, and make it clear she was going to be the future Mrs. Howard. That way, it’d be tough for the Howards to call off the engagement later.
The top OB-GYN at the hospital was the vice president, Eudora.
Eudora’s son, Clayton, was in his rebellious phase and ended up at John’s casino. Carlos saw an opportunity and trapped Clayton, forcing Eudora to do the surgery on Alice by making the situation sound worse than it was.
This way, they’d get the Howard family’s sympathy and get rid of the baby.
Alice's ectopic pregnancy was like a ticking time bomb, and she had been pushing Carlos to find a solution fast.
So, they came up with this plan.
When Alice went into surgery, it wasn’t that bad. She could’ve been out in no time, and the doctor said she’d be good to go after a week of rest. But Alice wanted to make it seem more serious to get the Howard family’s sympathy.
Carlos didn’t expect John to be so cutthroat.
John wanted Carlos to dump Alice, worried she’d be a liability. But Carlos couldn’t do it. They’d been together for years, and Alice was wild and fun, just his type.
When he got to the hospital and saw Curtis, Avery, and Melissa outside the ICU, Carlos chickened out and went to Eudora’s office instead.
Eudora heard the door and thought it was her assistant since most people knocked. When she saw Carlos, she wasn’t happy but had no choice. She’d agreed to John’s demands.
She figured Carlos was there to relay John’s orders.
She asked, “What do you want?”
Carlos plopped down on the couch and looked around. “You’re a vice president, but this office is a dump.”
Eudora had been a dedicated doctor for 25 years, and the only time she compromised her ethics was because of John. But John had a point. What good were ethics and skills if they didn’t get her anywhere? She had a great reputation, nailed every surgery, and even participated in two world-famous cases, but she still lost the president position.
She was stuck with the vice president title and a shabby office.
Eudora said, “Did your dad send you here to critique my office? I’m busy.”
She had two medical records to review and a meeting to attend.
Carlos asked, “How’s Alice?”
Eudora thought John and Carlos were ruthless. Alice’s uterus could’ve been saved, but John ordered its removal. She looked at Carlos. “Did John send you to ask?”
