Chapter 258 Filming
Rodolfo guided Natalie through a few solo shots while Kevin fumed on the phone with Alice’s agent, Karen.
"Yeah, Natalie's here, and we're done shooting. with her shots. Can you send Alice over?" Kevin asked, trying to keep his frustration in check.
"What?" Kevin's voice rose. "Alice is asleep?"
Karen sounded annoyed. "Mr. Alexander, keep it down. Alice is pregnant and needs her rest. It's already afternoon. Whatever it is can wait."
Kevin was losing patience. "Karen, today's shoot is at the Imperial Nightclub. We rented it for a day; everyone's waiting. If we go over time, it'll cost a lot! I even arranged for the stand-in actress you wanted!"
Karen replied, "Alice's rest is more important. Dynamic Entertainment invested a lot to make sure Alice is comfortable. If we wake her up and she doesn't rest well, it could harm her baby. She's Mr. Howard's fiancée."
Furious, Kevin slammed his phone down, venting his anger towards Rodolfo, who merely shrugged in response.
In his seven years in the industry, Kevin had never dealt with an actress like Alice.
She was here to rest during her pregnancy, but he couldn't afford to upset her.
Everyone watched Kevin, understanding the situation.
The makeup artist was touching up Nora's makeup. Nora stood up and said, "Mr. Alexander, it seems Alice can't make it, but we can't delay. My contract says I only shoot until 6 PM. After that, the pay changes."
Kevin frowned. "Nora, we won't shoot this scene today." He told the crew, "Change the set."
Nora suggested, "Mr. Alexander, these scenes are important. Why not let the stand-in actress do it? She acts better than Alice anyway. With makeup and the right angles, no one will notice."
Nora didn't like filming with Alice and preferred the stand-in.
Rodolfo looked at Natalie and nodded. He walked over to Kevin and said, "Natalie did well in the recent shots. She looks like Alice anyway. Let her stand in so we don't delay."
Kevin glanced at Natalie. She was slender and more graceful than Alice. With makeup, even he couldn't tell the difference.
Besides, Alice was new to the industry with few fans, so no one would notice.
He approached Natalie and said, "You look a lot like Alice. I don't know your relationship with her, but I'll pay you ten times the usual rate for a stand-in to finish today's scenes. Here's my card."
Kevin handed his card to Natalie. "You have the looks and presence for the industry. If you ever want to enter the industry, contact me."
Natalie took the card but had never considered it.
She thought, 'Enter the entertainment industry? No, thanks.'
She shook her head, she only wanted an ordinary life. "Mr. Alexander, you're friends with Melody, so I'll help you."
That afternoon, although it was Natalie's first time acting, she improved quickly and matched Nora's skills, who had been in the industry for ten years.
Some of Nora's expressions seemed overdone.
Natalie, on the other hand, progressed naturally, her performance lively and dynamic.
Kevin watched Natalie through the camera. Her smile was sweet, her eyes clear, and her skin nearly flawless. He nodded repeatedly. The last time he was this satisfied with an actress was the Best Actress, Michelle Cook.
After the shoot, Natalie received her payment. Kevin, impressed by her professionalism and modesty, thought she could have asked for more, given her low wages as a waitress, but she didn't.
He nodded and approached her again. "After this film, I'll be preparing a period drama next year. There's a role for a princess, the third female lead, which suits you well."
Natalie shook her head and refused, "Sorry, Mr. Alexander, I haven't considered it for now. I need to get back to work."
