Chapter 791 The Capital for Showing Off
"Did Mom throw it at you?" Rachel asked, eyebrows raised. "No way. Mom's not like that."
Claire was always the gentle, kind type.
Rachel thought, 'Could it have been Melissa? Nah, that doesn't add up. Melissa's strict, sure, but she's classy. She wouldn't just chuck porridge at someone.'
Saskia, trembling, said, "It was Ms. Cullen."
"What? Alice?" Rachel's face twisted in annoyance. "What's she even doing here?"
Rachel glanced at the two-story building with "Pine Green Garden" on the entrance. It was part of the Howard Mansion, a guest house where Alice must be crashing.
Rachel's temper flared, and she was about to storm over when Saskia grabbed her arm.
"Ms. Howard, please don't do anything rash," Saskia pleaded.
Rachel looked at Saskia, noticing a shrimp stuck in her hair and clothes.
Saskia, realizing how messy she looked, quickly let go. "Ms. Howard, Ms. Cullen is pregnant. Please don't confront her."
Alice had been a nightmare for Saskia and the other servants. Unlike Rachel, who had her moments but never crossed the line, Alice was just plain nasty.
Rachel's frown deepened. What did Adrian see in Alice, anyway?
Rachel had disliked Alice from day one, and now she was even more ticked off.
Instead of heading back to her place, Rachel grabbed a coral bracelet and went to Claire's study.
"Rachel, you're back," Claire greeted her with a smile.
Rachel grinned. "Mom, I got something for you. Close your eyes!"
"So mysterious," Claire chuckled but closed her eyes anyway.
Rachel slipped the bracelet onto Claire's wrist. The coral was a deep, blood-red and gleamed beautifully. Claire's eyes lit up. "It's gorgeous. You always know what I like, Rachel."
Rachel hugged Claire's arm. "Mom, I'm glad you love it. I traveled a lot this time and have tons of stories. I brought back gifts for everyone."
She helped Claire to the couch.
Rachel remembered Alice was staying at the Howard Mansion. "Mom, I noticed someone living in Pine Green Garden. When did Alice move in?"
Claire sighed. "You were dealing with jet lag, and I forgot to mention it. Alice is pregnant, and this baby is important. We decided to let her stay here for better care and a healthier environment."
Rachel wasn't buying it; she figured Alice had pushed for this.
Alice would love to bask in the Howard family's prestige and flaunt it.
"You just agreed? What if the kid isn't Adrian's? The Howard family has to be careful about this stuff," Rachel said casually, but she noticed Claire's expression darken a bit.
