Chapter 764 Wasting Opportunities
Natalie smirked a bit. "Yeah, just found out myself."
The doc let out a heavy sigh, "No matter how swamped you are with work, you gotta make time for your parents. No amount of cash is worth more than their health."
Natalie's eyes turned icy. "I'm not Rosalie's kid. What's up with her now? Just lay it out straight, please. What needs to be done?"
The doc was taken aback for a sec.
He'd been yapping all this time, and she wasn't even Rosalie's family.
The doc said, "Rosalie needs another surgery to make it. You know, big surgeries like this take a toll. She barely made it through one two years ago. Even if we go ahead now, she needs to be in good shape. Anyway, wait for her main doc to give you the full rundown."
Natalie hung around the office for a bit, then got up to head to the ward to chat with Rosalie.
Maybe they really needed to hash things out.
Then she heard a doc call out, "Doc, you're here. Rosalie's family wants an update."
Natalie turned and saw who just walked in.
She was a bit shocked.
It was Jagger.
Jagger didn't expect to see Natalie either.
Jagger was holding a medical chart, with two young docs trailing behind him, looking like he just finished rounds. He seemed a bit worn out. When he saw Natalie, he clenched his fingers slightly. It had been two years since he last saw her, ever since he went abroad to study.
Since coming back, Jagger had pulled off a high-stakes surgery and got promoted to chief doc.
He was the youngest chief doc in the hospital.
And Natalie had become a star.
Natalie was shining, like a real star.
Jagger told the intern behind him to grab Rosalie's medical records.
In the quiet stairwell corridor of the hospital, by the window.
Jagger said, "Long time no see."
Natalie grinned. "Yeah, long time no see. Heard you went abroad to study. When'd you get back?"
Jagger replied, "Half a year ago."
Natalie smiled. "Congrats on the promotion."
Natalie was wearing a mask, and Jagger could only see the corners of her eyes crinkle. "Thanks."
Even though Jagger didn't keep up with celeb gossip, the interns and some staff around him would chat about it. Jagger knew Natalie was doing pretty well now. There were some nasty rumors about her, but Jagger didn't care. He always knew Natalie was a good person.
Rosalie had been under Jagger's care for the past two months.
Jagger was always on top of her condition.
Now, it had suddenly gotten worse, which was a real headache.
The main problem was Rosalie herself was fighting the treatment.
And Natalie rarely showed up; it was usually the woman who tagged along with Natalie, probably her agent, who visited.
Jagger figured there might be some beef between Natalie and Rosalie. Or maybe Natalie was famous now and didn't want to get spotted at the hospital.
Jagger said, "As you probably know, Rosalie's on dialysis now. Her good kidney's failing, too. I know you got the cash for a transplant anytime, but as a doc, I gotta tell you, if Rosalie keeps resisting treatment, our hospital won't do the transplant. Money can buy a kidney, but wasting one means wasting someone else's chance at life."
