Chapter 392 The Secret That Cannot Be Told

The more Natalie thought about it, the more she felt like she was suffocating. Outta nowhere, tears just started pouring down her face.

Adrian was caught off guard and started to freak out a bit.

Natalie got up, ready to bounce; she needed some fresh air, like, now.

Adrian grabbed her tight. "I'm sorry, babe. I didn't mean to miss it. Tomorrow, it's all about you. Wherever you wanna go, I'm there, okay?"

Natalie wasn't dumb. She wasn't about to ask Adrian if he liked her or what he thought of her.

You gotta know when to quit while you're ahead.

She bit her lip, trying to pull herself together.

Just like Melody said, she should tone down her sharp demeanor; she needed to learn to soften up, play it coy, figure out how to reel Adrian in.

She said, "Then promise me one thing."

Adrian nodded. "Shoot."

"The person who drugged us that day was another manager here, Emma. I want her gone. I don't wanna see her at the Imperial Nightclub. I'm quitting next week, so I want her out before I leave."

Adrian didn't even blink. "Done."

Natalie's face was a mess of tears. She rubbed her face against Adrian's shoulder. Adrian smiled, not mad at all. Instead, he asked, "Not mad anymore?"

Natalie snorted. "You spend time with your fiancée. I'm just an outsider, why should I be mad?"

There was a hint of jealousy in her words.

Logically, Adrian should be pissed hearing that, but he was actually kinda happy. Natalie being jealous meant she cared about him. "Don't be mad. Tomorrow, it's just you and me, movie marathon." He nibbled on her small, delicate earlobe. "We can watch any action flick you want and do whatever makes us happy."

Listening to his cheeky words, Natalie's face started to turn red. She reached out and punched his chest. "Aren't you curious why Emma would drug us for no reason?"

Adrian asked, "Did you piss her off?"

Natalie replied, "It was Avery. Avery wanted her to find an excuse to fire me, so Emma came up with this lame plan."

Adrian frowned, his eyes darkening. "Avery, Mrs. Cullen?"

Natalie nodded. "Yeah, that's her. She's been bullying me since I was a kid. I grew up in the Cullen family, and they all looked down on me and my mom."

In the past, Adrian wouldn't have bought it. But he had once been at the Cullen family and had blocked a cup thrown at Natalie. If he hadn't, her face would've been messed up.

"Why?" He didn't get why Avery was so harsh on a servant.

Natalie looked at him. "Because I look a lot like Alice. Plus, my mom was Curtis's first love and Avery's cousin."

"I see." Adrian looked at Natalie's face. She did look a lot like Alice. Even the first time he met Natalie, he almost thought she was Alice.

Natalie looked at Adrian's handsome face. She sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned in. "Adrian, can you tell the difference between me and Alice?"

Her heart was pounding as she asked this question. She wondered if he could really tell her apart from Alice.

Adrian suddenly went quiet for a moment. "Natalie, have you ever been to the Four Seasons Hotel?"

Natalie's heart pounded violently. Her expression stayed cool, but inside, her heart was racing. So, he had noticed, hadn't he?

But she couldn't say it. She couldn't say that it was her that night, not Alice.
