Chapter 1092 See him One Last Time

Natalie glanced at her phone, reading the text messages.

She looked up and saw a shadowy figure on top of a tall building.

Down below, the police had set up a barricade. Curtis was up on the roof of a 30-story office building.

A middle-aged guy was yelling angrily, "Does he think this whole building belongs to the Cullen Group? There are employees from other companies here. If Curtis jumps, it's gonna mess up our work!"

"How are we supposed to work after this?"

Police cars were already there, forming a circle, and media folks with cameras were ready to catch Curtis's jump for tomorrow's headlines.

Natalie pushed through the police line but got stopped. "Sorry, ma'am, you can't go in."

"I know the man up there," Natalie insisted, but the cops weren't having it.

Derek stood in front of her. Even though the police were blocking her, Derek couldn't storm the office. He glanced at Natalie.

Natalie told the cops, "I'm Curtis's daughter. If he's gonna die, I should at least see him one last time."

The police were taken aback, probably not expecting her cold tone.

Natalie took the elevator to the rooftop, telling Derek to wait downstairs.

Derek said, "Ms. Teeger, be careful. Call me if anything happens."

On the rooftop, Curtis was at the edge, gripping the railing. His eyes were closed, and his hair was white, like he was already gone.

The police and firefighters were there, but no one dared to get close, afraid they'd set Curtis off.

Natalie walked over but got stopped by the police.

She looked at Curtis. The wind was strong, blowing her long hair. In her brown trench coat, she looked like a serene painting. She raised her hand, her slender fingers combing through her hair. "If you jump, do you think it'll erase all your mistakes?"

Her voice wasn't loud, but Curtis heard it.

He seemed to tremble a bit, turned around, and looked at Natalie. "You came."

Curtis looked at her, his fingers gripping the railing tightly.

The police, worried about agitating him, quickly said to Natalie, "Miss, are you a relative or a friend of Mr. Cullen? Please try to talk him out of jumping."

Natalie looked at Curtis indifferently. He seemed to have aged ten years in an instant, his eyes dull.

The plummet from his high-flying company to drowning in debt was a crushing blow to Curtis.

"You're just running away. Your debts won't disappear if you die. They'll fall on Avery and Alice," Natalie said.

Curtis's expression softened a bit.

Death might bring an end to everything, but it wouldn't erase debts. Even though Alice wasn't his and Avery's biological daughter, she was still his daughter.

Curtis looked at Natalie. "Natalie, I'm sorry. I never thought something so absurd would happen to me."

Natalie spoke coldly, "You don't need to apologize to me because I never thought about forgiving you. If I could choose, I would rather have never known about this absurd situation. I would rather have always been Stanley's daughter. I didn't come here to persuade you. Whether you choose to jump or live is your decision. But I want to say one thing."
