Chapter 863 The Invitation Obtained
Rachel couldn't help but blurt out, "It's not Rebecca's fault. Alice just doesn't deserve it. Giving her special treatment would be unfair to everyone else at the banquet."
Chloe chimed in, "If Rebecca didn't invite Alice, she could've come to me or Rachel. We could each bring a guest."
'Exactly,' Rachel thought. Alice did it on purpose!
"Alice is out of the hospital, but I don't know if she's fully recovered. We aren't on good terms," Rachel said, clearly annoyed. She couldn't stand two-faced Alice, and now she could see Adrian didn't like her either.
Rachel continued, "Alice had an ectopic pregnancy. She felt unwell the day after Christmas and had to have surgery. Naturally, she lost the baby. Because of this, my grandpa has been really serious lately, and my mom feels guilty about the charity banquet incident. I think Alice just doesn't fit with our family. She's lost two babies already. Adrian should just call off the engagement!"
Chloe was shocked. "Ectopic pregnancy?"
Amanda looked surprised too.
Rachel nodded. "Yeah, Alice has had some really bad luck, and so has the Howard family. Two babies gone, and my grandpa was really looking forward to a great-grandchild. It's been a blow to him too."
Amanda said, "You can talk about this with Chloe, but Alice is still Adrian's fiancée. It wouldn't be good if she heard this." Amanda, being close to Claire and treating Rachel like her own daughter, couldn't help but give some advice.
"Whether she'll be Adrian's wife in the future is still up in the air. Adrian doesn't like her. He was going to marry her because of the baby. Now that there's no baby, why should he marry her? I don't believe Adrian has such poor taste," Rachel said indignantly.
"Adrian and Alice have been engaged for almost two years. Why hasn't Adrian married her yet? Could it be that Adrian really doesn't like her?" Chloe wondered.
Rachel didn't hold back anymore. "The Cullen family is just an ordinary family with an annual income of tens of millions, not even worth one of my cars. Two years ago, when Adrian first came to Vachilit, he was set up that night, and Alice happened to save him. Adrian proposed the engagement to thank her. I didn't like Alice from the start. I thought she was too materialistic, a nouveau riche, full of greed, clinging to Adrian to marry into the Howard family."
'And Alice has given me bad advice, causing Jamie to distance himself from me,' Rachel thought.
"Adrian later seemed to dislike her too, but Alice saved my mom and lost the baby. I was moved and ready to accept her. However, I found out she deliberately made things difficult for the salespeople at Howard Group's malls. Her character was terrible. She always flaunted herself with her friends, and she even badmouthed me in front of my mom," Rachel said, thinking what Alice had said was pure instigation!
Chloe felt some sympathy for Rachel. "Rachel, I didn't expect Alice to be so scheming. So this time, she didn't get Rebecca's invitation and must have asked Claire for it herself."
