Chapter 275 Sending Flowers
Rachel sat up. "Am I wrong?" She looked at Claire. "Mom, the Howard family's heir is a big deal, or I wouldn't be here." She sounded sarcastic, "I was just a kid when my real mom died. I only joined the Howard family after a DNA test. Who can guarantee Alice's baby is Adrian's? Who knows if she schemed to marry him?"
Alice felt guiltier with every word Rachel said. She knew the baby was Carlos's.
She glared at Rachel, growing more resentful. She'd always tried to please Rachel, but Rachel ignored her. Maybe it was time to teach Rachel a lesson.
But Alice put on a hurt face, her eyes reddening, "Aunt Claire, how could I lie to you? I've only been with Adrian. I've always looked forward to this baby. I'm willing to wait until it's born to prove myself..."
Claire held Alice's hand. "Alright, don't cry."
Claire thought Rachel's words were harsh but had some truth. Still, she liked Alice and thought she was nice. Adrian marrying Alice was better than him pining for that woman in a coma for five years.
Adrian's car passed a flower shop. Brice slowed down. "Mr. Howard, can I stop to buy some flowers?"
Adrian nodded.
Brice got out, picked up 99 roses he had pre-ordered. "These are for my girlfriend."
Adrian crossed his legs. "Helen Carter from marketing?"
Brice blushed. "Mr. Howard, you know about that."
Adrian smiled, "Want me to transfer you to marketing?"
"No need, office romance isn't advisable." Brice waved his hand and placed the flowers carefully. "Girls love flowers. They say they don't, but they're happy when you give them."
Adrian seemed to ponder. "Do all girls like them?"
Brice nodded, started the car. "Of course."
Adrian looked at the flower shop. "Order a bouquet for me."
Brice, puzzled, got out and ordered the flowers. Who were they for? Alice? He didn't dare ask.
Brice bought the flowers and drove towards the Howard family. Adrian told him to turn around, "Go to Blue Mountain Community."
Brice raised an eyebrow. 'Isn't that where Natalie lives? Are these roses for Natalie?'
The car stopped at Blue Mountain Community. Brice left the flowers at the security post. "These are for Natalie. Please ask her to come down and get them."
"Natalie, the Ms. Teeger on the 12th floor?"
"Yes."
The security guard called Natalie, who was surprised, "Something for me? Just leave it at the door, I'll pick it up later."
Brice got back in the car, "Mr. Howard, any other instructions?"
Adrian closed his eyes. "Let's go."
Brice was confused. What was Adrian up to? It felt less like giving flowers and more like shoving them into someone's hands, without a single ounce of warmth. This seemed to be Adrian's first time giving flowers. But why? Did he like Natalie? Even Brice thought that was impossible.
"Mr. Howard, back to the Howard family?"
"First, go to the pet store and pick up Lucky."
At the Howard family, Rachel got up and left. Claire sighed. Rachel wasn't her daughter, so she couldn't control her. "Alice, don't take Rachel's words to heart."
Alice wiped her tears. "I won't."
Outside, a car engine roared. Then the butler's voice, "Mr. Howard is back."
