Chapter 594 Inquiring for Information
Karen snapped, "Herman's still a total jerk."
Herman had been creeping on B-list and C-list actresses forever. The newbies at Dynamic Entertainment Media couldn't dodge him, either. Violet, a fresh dance major who just signed with Karen, was already on Herman's radar.
The assistant chimed in, "Mr. Simmons is always like that. We can't do much. We just tell the actresses to suck it up. He's got all the power and controls Dynamic's resources."
Karen clenched her teeth. "I'm so over this."
Mindy was the tough cookie at Dynamic, and even Herman had to respect her. Last time, however, Herman even tried to mess with Mindy!
Karen fumed, "If I catch him slipping, he's done for!"
Karen had put up with Herman for ages, but she needed him. Without his pull, she couldn't take on Mindy.
Thinking about how Mindy always outshined her, Karen let out a heavy sigh.
Karen said, "Tell Violet to keep her head down and not stir the pot. Give her a magazine feature or a small role in a film or TV show, and call it a day."
The assistant nodded. "But Karen, Mr. Simmons has targeted our actresses multiple times. Some newbies are grumbling, saying they'd rather be under Mindy. With Mindy around, he wouldn't dare mess with them."
Karen took a sip of coffee and slammed the cup down.
Karen sneered, "If they wanna run to Mindy, let 'em!"
She cursed internally, 'Mindy, you better hope I don't catch you slipping, 'cause if I do, you're going down first.'
The assistant lingered, looking like she had more to say.
Karen shot her a look. "Spit it out. Cut the chase."
The assistant said, "One of my sources heard from Heather this morning that Natalie has proof the person in the photo isn't her. They were gonna hold a press conference, but it got canceled."
Karen raised an eyebrow. "Canceled? Who called that shot?"
The assistant shrugged. "Not sure. Heard Mindy and Natalie had a bit of a spat over it."
Karen smirked, "Mindy wants to control Natalie completely, but it's not that simple. Natalie might seem sweet and easygoing, but she's sharp and can be ruthless if crossed."
The assistant snorted, "Natalie messed up picking Mindy as her agent. Mindy's just using her as a stepping stone. She doesn't really care about Natalie. She might say she does, but she's just looking out for herself. Natalie blew it by rejecting you."
Karen said, "Go get Heather."
The assistant replied, "Heather's out, not in the office."
Karen spun around in her executive chair. "What do you think Dylan was talking about with Mindy in her office? Could it be something about Mr. Simmons?"
The assistant said, "I'll go find out."
Karen shook her head. "Mindy's super cautious. Didn't you see Dylan went in with documents? He was pretending to get them signed. We won't find out anything."
