Chapter 82 A Stolen Kiss on the Balcony

At this moment, on the small balcony, Natalie found herself pressed against Adrian's chest. Her back was flush against the cool wall of the balcony, her fingers clenched into tight fists as they pushed against his firm torso.

Adrian's fingers, in turn, threaded through Natalie's hair, his grip firm on the nape of her neck. Natalie hadn't anticipated such an intimate encounter with Adrian, especially not at the Cullen Villa. Yet, all she could do was resist in silence.

Suddenly, a knock echoed from the other side of the door. "Adrian, are you in there?" Melissa's voice filtered through the heavy wood, causing Natalie's heart to pound in her chest.

Adrian, however, seemed unfazed. Perhaps he was indifferent, or perhaps he was purposefully stoking the fear and panic that danced in Natalie's eyes. With one hand, he gripped her slender waist and hoisted her up. Natalie felt a moment of weightlessness, a scream threatening to escape her lips.

Before she could react, Adrian deepened their kiss, stealing her breath away.

'This man is truly insane!' Natalie thought to herself, her mind a whirlwind of emotions.

Meanwhile, Melissa stood at the doorway, her knocks met with silence from behind the frosted double-layer glass door. "Adrian, are you not here?" she called out again, preparing to leave.

Suddenly, a slight noise from within the room caught her attention – the sound of Natalie biting Adrian's lip hard enough to elicit a sharp intake of breath from him. Melissa stomped her foot in frustration, calling out once more, "Adrian?"

Back on the balcony, Adrian wiped the corner of his lips. He reached out, pinching Natalie's delicate chin and drawing closer, his face radiating heat, his voice husky. "You bit me? Your teeth are so sharp," he teased.

Natalie was a bundle of nerves. With Melissa outside, Adrian's audacity was astounding. Seeing her cautious and nervous expression, a smile tugged at the corner of Adrian's lips. "I'm making a phone call, I'll be out in a moment," he assured Melissa.

"Okay, hurry up. Your grandfather is looking for you."

"Alright."

With that, Adrian released Natalie. She quickly straightened her clothes, her attire consisting of her own clothing overlaid with a light blue apricot, reminiscent of a maid's outfit. Despite its simplicity, it lent her an air of elegance.

Taking a moment to steady her breath, Natalie gathered her cleaning tools, preparing to make her exit. However, she noticed Adrian still lingering at the doorway, showing no signs of leaving. Uncertainty gnawed at her. What if Melissa hadn't left yet, or if other maids happened to pass by and see them together, then report it to Avery? Rosalie was still with Avery, she couldn't afford to take such a risk.

"What... what are you going to do?" Natalie asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her soft words fell on Adrian's ears, carrying an undercurrent of tenderness. He looked at her, his mind drifting to the hand-woven red rope knot in the desk at Bayview Villa. Suddenly, he felt a surge of nervousness. "Have you ever been to Norland before?"

"Before?" Natalie asked, confusion etched on her face. "How long ago do you mean?"
Her grandmother's house was in Norland, but a decade ago, Norland had been ravaged by an earthquake. It had since been rebuilt, and she hadn't been back in a long time.

Adrian's gaze bore into Natalie's, his eyes narrowing. "Ten years ago, there was an earthquake in Norland."

"Yes, a very big earthquake," Natalie confirmed, her gaze dropping, reflecting a deep-seated pain.

During that earthquake, she had lost her grandmother. Her voice grew hoarse as she continued, "The whole of Norland was buried, many people died, and many families were torn apart... natural disasters are truly terrifying."

Her family had experienced both natural and man-made disasters. Her father and brother had been killed in a car accident. Now, only she and Rosalie were left.
