Chapter 1103 Sorry, I Don't Remember You
'What happened while I was out cold?' Adrian wondered, scratching his head.
Natalie looked at him, worry etched on her face. "Adrian, are you okay?"
She bit her lip, clearly anxious.
Adrian stared into Natalie's teary eyes, feeling a pang in his chest.
"Sorry, I don't remember you," Adrian admitted, his voice soft.
Natalie trembled, tears streaming down her face, looking utterly shocked.
'Adrian really doesn't remember me,' Natalie thought, her heart sinking.
The Howard family members who were still around looked just as stunned.
Ruben, leaning on his cane, asked, "Adrian, do you really not remember Natalie? What about the rest of us? Are you feeling okay otherwise?"
Adrian shook his head, scanning the familiar faces. He remembered everyone except Natalie.
Her fingers felt cold as her tears fell onto Adrian's hand, making it tremble slightly.
The Howard family looked serious, and Natalie lowered her eyes, trying to hold back more tears.
Andrea stepped out of the ward, a sly smile creeping onto her lips. 'Looks like fate's giving me a hand. I thought I lost my chance with Adrian when he fell for Natalie, but now he's forgotten her.'
Just then, Andrea's phone rang. It was Jamie.
"Hey, Jamie."
"I heard you went to the hospital. Adrian woke up?" Jamie asked.
"Yeah, he's awake." Although Jamie was Andrea's brother in name, they weren't related by blood. Andrea was adopted by the Lawson family, and she knew Jamie had feelings for her, but her heart was set on Adrian.
Jamie didn't like her visiting Adrian in the hospital. This was the first time Andrea stood up to Jamie since waking up. "Jamie, Adrian has amnesia."
Jamie frowned. "When are you coming home?"
"Jamie, I want to stay here and take care of Adrian."
"He's married, Andrea. He has Natalie. You know he loves her."
"But he has amnesia. He forgot Natalie, Jamie. Please let me stay and take care of him."
"Even if he has amnesia, it's temporary. The car accident messed with his brain. He'll remember eventually."
"But right now, he doesn't remember Natalie. He only remembers me," Andrea insisted stubbornly. "Jamie, I'm not coming back. I'm not a little girl anymore. I know what I want." With that, she hung up.
On the other end, Jamie clenched his fist in frustration.
The doctor soon returned to the ward to check on Adrian and took him for a CT scan. The results showed a shadow in part of his brain, but it wasn't the right time for surgery. Adrian needed to recover more before they could operate. This was likely why he had amnesia and couldn't remember Natalie.
Natalie asked, "How's Adrian doing now?"
"Mrs. Howard, don't worry. Mr. Howard's condition is improving," the doctor reassured her.
Natalie let out a sigh of relief.
Even though Adrian had temporary amnesia, as long as he was getting better, that was all that mattered.
