Chapter 240 He Didn't Mind Natalie's Past
Avery said, "Alice, this kid is your ticket to becoming Mrs. Howard."
Alice nodded. "I know, Mom."
Avery asked, "So, anything happen with Mr. Howard during your Pearl Island trip?"
Alice blushed. She knew what he was getting at.
She shook her head. "It's all because of that witch Natalie. I had a whole week planned, and I was ready with all sorts of..."
Her face turned even redder. She thought, 'I've prepared all sorts of intimate toys, but Natalie ruined everything, leaving me no chance to be alone with Adrian!'
"Alright, there's always next time. For now, just take care of yourself," Avery said, patting her hand.
Alice grabbed her fingers. "Mom, I can't have this baby. A DNA test will show it's not Adrian's."
Avery said, "Don't worry; we have a few months to figure a way out."
Natalie returned to the Cullen family's residence.
She had a big fallout with them and went back to pack her things.
She and Rosalie had lived there for over ten years. The place for themwas simple: two bedrooms, a living room, and a small kitchen.
She carefully packed Rosalie's stuff too. Once she found a new place, she'd move out immediately.
After a shower, she looked at the bruises on her face. They weren't too serious, but Avery had hit her hard enough to swell her cheek. She couldn't work at the Imperial Nightclub for a few days. She called Melody, who said, "I already gave you a week off. Just rest up."
News of Adrian and Natalie being trapped and injured in the forest had spread through the Howard family.
At first, they tried to keep it quiet, but it got out, and Ruben found out. There was no hiding it anymore.
He scolded Daniel and Jamie, "Such a big deal, and you kept it from me! I'm still alive, you know!"
Daniel said, "Grandpa, we were just worried about you."
"Worried about me?" Ruben sighed. "How can I not worry? You two!"
Jamie said, "Grandpa, Adrian's fine now. The snake venom's gone. The doctor said we should thank Ms. Teeger."
Ruben was silent for a few seconds. "Natalie?"
He thought, 'Natalie is good with medicine; she saved my life before.'
Jamie said, "Yes, she sucked out the snake venom and gave emergency treatment. Otherwise, Adrian could have been in serious danger trapped out in that forest for so long."
Daniel glanced at Jamie, who stayed calm. Daniel quickly added, "Yes, Grandpa, we should thank Natalie. Without her, the rescue wouldn't have gone so smoothly."
Ruben nodded. "The Howard family owes her twice now."
Jamie and Daniel left the study.
Because of his leg injury, Jamie walked behind. He stepped aside to let Daniel pass, but Daniel didn't leave immediately. "Jamie, I need to thank you."
Jamie raised an eyebrow. "Thank me for what?"
Daniel said, "For speaking up for Natalie."
Jamie wore a knowing smile. He and Adrian were the same age, both four years older than Daniel. "Daniel, do you really like Natalie?"
"Jamie, you might laugh at me." Daniel clenched his fist. "But this is the first time I've felt this way about a girl, even though..." Even though he knew about her past, learned shocking things about her during truth or dare. "I've thought a lot these past two days. I just like her."
He didn't mind Natalie's past.
