Chapter 796 A New Life
Bella now lived in a duplex apartment super close to the hospital so she could easily take care of Austin, who was still in a coma.
As for the Reynolds family, after the shareholders' meeting a month ago, Cassidy had taken control.
"Sorry to keep you waiting! There were so many people out today, and the traffic was insane. I got stuck for a bit," Natalie said to Bella.
Bella shook her head. "No worries, I just got here, too. This is your first starring role; even if it was hailing, I'd still be here."
They soon arrived at the cinema.
Natalie gave Derek a three-hour break and went inside with Bella. They grabbed two buckets of popcorn and sodas and headed into the theater.
The cinema was on the 6th floor of a shopping mall. It was usually pretty chill.
After waiting for about ten minutes, the movie started. The theater was about a third full. Natalie knew she was still a newbie without much pull, and Chris was a new director without the big-name reputation, so not many people showed up. Natalie's fan base wasn't huge either, mostly casual fans and people who liked her looks. The audience here today probably weren't here just for her movie.
The movie began.
The plot kicked off with the female lead, Carina, in high school.
Carina was from a single-parent family, with her mom raising both her and her younger brother.
Her brother needed to go to school, so Carina had to give up her own education.
Carina could've gone to Ardentia University, but she gave it up because her mom threw the acceptance letter into the fireplace right in front of her. Her dream was crushed.
Living in a family where her mom prefered her brother rather than her was Carina's misfortune.
Her mom even planned for Carina to work in a factory to pay for her brother's tuition.
One night, Carina took the $500 she had saved from the cabinet and left the small village. She hopped on a train to the big city.
This was where the story really began.
Chris's filming technique was super unique, with a really distinct style. The cinematographer captured simple scenes with a sunset-like quality, making the emotions really hit home.
The interlude was a violin piece, melodious and lingering.
The female lead Carina struggled in the big city, selling household goods, working in factories. At 18, she had been through a lot, working as a sales clerk in a supermarket, working in a library while reading to enrich herself. At night, she returned to her rented room, a place without even a window, resembling a small prison where many young people were also struggling.
Carina met Seth while selling phones, and they had a brief romance.
Carina chose to start a business with a few friends who partnered with her.
They went through setbacks and failures, and during this time, Seth cheated with a younger woman. After another failed investment, all the money they had earned was lost, and the partners withdrew. Carina was left with a debt of over a million dollars. She sat in the snow, drank, and when she woke up the next day, she was still alive. Carina believed it was a new chance given by fate and decided to pull herself together.
At this point, Carina met the male lead Reno, who supported her.
A new life began.
