Rachel let out a heavy sigh and shook her head. "I don't know all the details, but during that rescue, Andrea made it out alive but got hit with some deadly poison. She couldn't handle it and tried to end it all, which put her in this coma. That's what caused Jamie and Adrian to fall out," Rachel explained.
Natalie was stunned.
The car pulled up to Bayview Villa.
Natalie stayed put because Rachel had locked the car doors, looking really torn. From the moment they left the hospital, Rachel had been on edge, and Natalie could tell something was up.
Rachel suddenly put on a frustrated face and blurted out, "Natalie, no one in the Howard family listens to me. Can I talk to you?"
Natalie reached out and gently patted her back, trying to help her relax.
Rachel's thin back was tense, her bright features now clouded with worry. "I know since Andrea woke up, Ruben, Adrian, and my parents are all over the moon because they were hoping for this. But I don't like it. Sometimes I wish Andrea would never wake up."
Rachel looked at Natalie, confused. "Am I a bad person?"
Natalie softly said, holding Rachel's fingers, "Rachel, don't talk about yourself like that."
Rachel's fingers were cold, and her strawberry-colored nail polish had lost its shine. She gave a bitter smile. "Because all of Jamie's attention will be on Andrea."
Rachel closed her eyes. "Since I was a kid, everyone envied me for being the youngest daughter of the Howard family. But I wasn't happy. Andrea's presence made me feel left out. She was obedient, understanding, gentle, and beautiful. She was in poor health, but Ruben liked her because she was my grandmother Octavia's favorite.
