Chapter 1334 Watching a Horror Movie Together
Elmer stood up and walked over to Rachel, then plopped down right next to her. His eyes were glued to the video playing on the tablet.
Half an hour later, Elmer's face had gone pale, and his back was stiff as a board. Rachel, on the other hand, felt a bit braver with him there. Whenever a scary scene popped up, she'd dive under the blanket.
When a creepy doll face appeared on the screen, Elmer shut his eyes for a moment, still looking pale.
When the movie finally ended, Elmer let out a big sigh of relief.
Rachel looked at him and said, "See? I told you it was scary."
Trying to play it cool, Elmer replied, "Nah, you're just a scaredy-cat."
Rachel's eyes widened. "Come on, admit it, you were scared too." She noticed his clenched fists and trembling back but decided not to call him out on it. It was obvious he was scared too.
"Boring!" Elmer muttered, standing up and grabbing his clothes before heading to the bathroom.
Rachel chuckled to herself, finding Elmer's tough act pretty amusing.
In the unfamiliar place, Rachel couldn't sleep either. She decided to kill time by watching a comedy on her tablet.
When Elmer came out of the bathroom, he heard a burst of laughter. Through his tousled hair, he saw Rachel on the couch, laughing heartily. Her laughter was bright and unrestrained, and for a moment, Elmer couldn't help but stare.
"Hey, you're done. Come over here and watch this comedy with me," Rachel called out, waving him over.
Elmer met her gaze for a second before quickly looking away, his heart racing. He grabbed a towel and started drying his hair. "Do you know your laughter is really loud? It's disturbing me."
"It's only 10 PM, and you're already going to bed?"
Elmer finished drying his hair and got into bed. He read a few pages of a book before lying down. In the background, he could hear Rachel's clear, cheerful laughter.
Eve had only been here for two days, but she was already so annoying and noisy! But she was unlike any girl he had ever met. There were many girls on the island, but none like Eve.
Elmer turned over. The laughter stopped. He looked up, puzzled. Rachel had turned off the movie and was now playing a game.
After about half an hour, Rachel went to the bathroom. She came out 15 minutes later.
During this time, Elmer realized he hadn't fallen asleep. His long-established sleep schedule was disrupted. His mind was wide awake.
Another 15 minutes passed, and from the corner of the bedroom sofa, he heard Rachel's soft breathing. Elmer frowned, pursing his lips slightly.
Meanwhile, in Suncrest City, Natalie's phone rang. Ever since Rachel and Beatrix had gone missing, her sleep had been light, waking at the slightest sound. She picked up the phone, "Hello."
"Natalie, it's me." Hearing the familiar voice, Natalie froze for a moment, "Beatrix!"
Adrian woke up too, looking at Natalie. Her lips trembled, "It's Beatrix on the phone!"
The man immediately got up and started getting dressed. Natalie didn't waste any time either. She put the call on speaker and got dressed while listening to Beatrix's voice.
"Beatrix, where are you? Is Rachel with you? What happened?"
