Chapter 058 The Man in the Wheelchair

Denise was a woman of warmth and kindness, and Natalie found herself working alongside her in several of the lounges. Hours passed, and with Denise's patient guidance, Natalie began to understand the rhythm of her new job. Denise, ever the gossip, filled Natalie in on the whispers and rumors that circulated the establishment.

"You mentioned the owner earlier," Natalie said, her curiosity piqued. "Is he as tough as they say?"

Denise's eyes widened, round and endearing on her plump face. "Our boss is a man of mystery. He never once showed his face around here," she replied, her voice filled with a sense of awe. "But he must be something special. To own a place like this in Vachilit, you need to have some serious influence."

"I see," Natalie responded, nodding nonchalantly as if the enigma of their boss was of little concern to her.

The elevator doors on the sixth floor parted with a soft hiss.

Two towering men stepped out. Colby glanced at Adrian, uncertainty tingeing his voice, "Should I make the call?"

"Yes," Adrian responded curtly, before striding off towards suite 606.

With a shrug, Colby dialed a number. "Jamie, time to welcome you home. Adrian and I are both here. It wouldn't be right if you didn't show up, would it?"

A voice, rough and gravelly, responded from the other end. "Give me a moment, will you? You know I'm not exactly fleet of foot."

"Do you need me to come get you?" Colby asked, concern creeping into his voice.

"No, it's fine."

With that, Jamie ended the call, leaving Colby to sigh, a sense of resignation settling over him. Jamie's temperament, it seemed, hadn't changed in the slightest. He then made his way into the suite.

Natalie, having finished tidying up suite 602, was preparing to take a break.

As she passed by the elevator, the doors slid open once more.

A man in a wheelchair emerged slowly. Quick to offer assistance, Natalie set down her tray and inclined her head respectfully, "Sir, do you require any help?"

Jamie glanced at her, his brow furrowed, and commanded, "Push the wheelchair."

Guiding him along, Natalie inquired, "Sir, which suite are you heading to?"

"606."

Natalie complied, escorting Jamie to suite 606.

Inside the suite, Colby lounged comfortably, one leg crossed over the other. "Adrian, do you think Jamie's sudden return has something to do with trouble at the Verono branch?" he asked.

Adrian, his eyes narrowed in thought, responded calmly, "I just returned from Verono a few days ago. His return is likely orchestrated by my grandfather."

Colby, nursing a drink, recalled a past incident and probed further, "Adrian, did you ever find out who drugged you when you returned to Vachilit? Was it one of Donte's men?"

Adrian, nonchalant, crossed his legs and picked up a cigarette and lighter from the table. The blue flame danced for a moment before being extinguished, leaving the cigarette lit. The smoke curled around him, creating a hazy aura.

He took a few drags. "I haven't found any evidence. Even if it was his doing, I couldn't very well go tattling to my grandfather."

Colby knew all too well that Ruben despised internal family disputes.

Donte had the audacity to act because he was aware of this fact as well.

Just then, a knock echoed through the room.

Moments later, the door swung open.

The sound of a wheelchair's wheels scraping against the floor filled the room. A waiter wheeled in a man dressed in a black tracksuit, long black pants, and a baseball cap. The brim of his cap cast a shadow over most of his face, giving him an air of solitude and detachment.

Colby stared at the woman in the waiter's uniform, taken aback. "It's you."

Natalie looked up.

Her heart skipped a beat as she locked eyes with the icy gaze of Adrian.

She stood rooted to the spot, as if her feet were nailed to the floor.

Subconsciously, Natalie's grip on the handles of the wheelchair tightened.
