Chapter 444 She Can't Forget
Rosalie was up early, giving the house a good scrub down.
She stumbled upon some clothes in Natalie’s closet, tags still on. When she checked them out, she nearly fell over—these clothes were crazy expensive.
Like, there was this denim skirt that cost a whopping $3,000.
Rosalie was floored.
She double-checked the price tag and whipped out her phone to look up the brand.
Turns out, it was some high-end luxury label.
How the heck could Natalie afford this?
Rosalie knew Natalie well; even if she had the cash, she wouldn’t splurge on such flashy stuff.
She grabbed her phone, ready to call Natalie and get some answers. Yvonne picked up, and Rosalie suddenly felt like she might be overreacting. Natalie was in the entertainment biz now, so having some fancy clothes made sense.
With that thought, Rosalie sighed, carefully put the clothes back in the closet, and reminded herself that Natalie wasn’t the type to be all about appearances.
How could she have doubted Natalie even for a second?
Ten minutes later, Natalie called back. “Mom, Yvonne said you called? I was just shooting a commercial.”
Rosalie hesitated. "Oh, it's nothing, must've butt-dialed you. Are you finished? How's work going?"
Natalie replied, “Not yet, still got more to shoot. I’ll be home early tonight. Mom, tomorrow’s your birthday; let’s go shopping.”
Rosalie said, “I’m old. No need for a birthday fuss. It’s just a waste of money. Natalie, you should save your earnings and think about the future.”
On the other end, Natalie took a quick break but had to get back to shooting.
Today, she was promoting some fancy handbag.
She was about to hang up when Rosalie asked, “Natalie, are you seeing anyone lately?”
Natalie replied, “Mom, is there something you want to talk about?”
Rosalie said, “Well, Alice introduced a guy to you. I think he’s pretty decent and comes from a good family.”
Natalie raised an eyebrow. “Alice introduced him?”
“Yeah, Natalie, I know you and Alice have had your differences since you were kids, but she means well. She was just spoiled, so she can be a bit much. This time, she really wants to make up. Alice is in the hospital with several fractures; I’ve watched you two grow up together. Natalie, I know you’re busy, but find some time to visit Alice.”
“Sure, I want to see her too.” Natalie smiled. “Mom, since you want me to visit Alice, I’ll do it. But saying she has a good nature? I remember how she and Avery threatened me back then. They’re both awful.”
Rosalie said, “Natalie, that’s too harsh.”
Natalie slowly closed her eyes. Harsh? Not even close.
She couldn’t forget losing her unborn child. Or how they forced her to be a stand-in.
Natalie hung up. Heather, noticing Natalie’s mood, gently reminded her, “Natalie, it’s time for the shoot.”
Natalie exhaled slowly, put on a smile, and got back to work.
Over the weekend, Natalie went shopping with Bella.
Bella was getting engaged to Reynolds' eldest son next week, appearing totally chill about it.
