Chapter 1021 Better to Fulfill

"Yeah, it looks like Yancy doesn't give a damn about his mom."

"Check out Cassidy's face. It's a mess."

"It's hilarious. She totally deserves it for being so stuck-up. I wished her a happy birthday, and she just blew me off. Everyone knows she messed with the Reynolds family's two sons and now she's taken over the Reynolds Group."

"Keep it down."

"What are you scared of?"

A few socialites kept gossiping behind Cassidy back in whispers.

Cassidy looked at Yancy, surprised. She'd had plenty of birthdays, but Yancy never showed up. This time, even though Heather dragged him along, she was still thrilled to see him at her party. "Yancy, you're here."

Yancy looked at her and said flatly, "Happy birthday."

Lucy, standing nearby, chimed in, "Sir, you finally made it."

Lucy was genuinely happy for Cassidy.

But Yancy wasn't exactly thrilled. His relationship with Cassidy was always rocky, but she was still his mom, and it was her birthday, so he couldn't ruin it.

Yancy didn't have a gift ready, but he had some snacks a friend gave him in the car, so he brought those over and handed them to Cassidy.

Cassidy took them and said, "Yancy, I'm so glad you came to see me."

It didn't matter what the gift was; as long as it was from Yancy, Cassidy loved it.

"How did you know I like this? It's my favorite," Cassidy chirped.

This was the first time Yancy had celebrated Cassidy's birthday. How could she not be surprised and excited?

Yancy held Heather's hand, making it clear to Cassidy and some of the guests at the party that Heather was his girlfriend. Just then, a wealthy lady walked over. Seeing Yancy now, she said, "Mr. Bailey, who's this girl with you?"

As she spoke, her eyes fell on their tightly held hands.

Wasn't it obvious?

Cassidy's face stiffened.

Yancy said, "This is my girlfriend, Heather. If there's nothing else, I'll take her to the lounge for a bit."

The wealthy lady was annoyed. "Cassidy, what's going on? Your son has a girlfriend, and you still let him meet my daughter. You even talked about setting them up. What do you take my daughter for?"

"It's not like that. You really misunderstood," Cassidy gritted her teeth. "It's all Yancy's nonsense. Of course, his marriage is decided by me."

The wealthy lady wasn't buying it. "Who are you trying to fool?"

Melissa, standing nearby, said, "You can't say that. The kids are grown up now. We can't control them as we please."

"Exactly," said another wealthy lady. "My daughter was quite happy with Yancy before. I thought if Yancy liked my daughter too, it would be perfect. Now that Yancy has a girlfriend, it's not good to interfere. Why don't you just let them be together, Cassidy?"
