Chapter 94 The Forgotten Disclosure

In a hushed undertone, a socialite shared her confusion with a group of onlookers. "It's been said that Jamie is the offspring of Mr. Howard Senior and his first wife's adopted son. The bond between Mr. Howard Senior and his wife was profound, leading them to bestow the Lawson family name upon their adopted child. Tragically, the son passed away prematurely, leaving only Jamie behind. Yet, what puzzles me is why Jamie, who has been abroad for so long, has suddenly returned?"

Another voice chimed in, "I've heard whispers of Jamie having a sister, yet she seems to be absent from the Howard family gatherings."

Natalie, standing inconspicuously in a corner, was astounded by the magnitude of the gossip she had stumbled upon. She hadn't anticipated the intricate web of relationships within the Howard family.

As her gaze drifted towards Jamie, she noticed Rachel, her cheeks flushed with excitement. Approaching him, she inquired softly, "Jamie, how long do you plan on staying this time?"

Jamie's response was nonchalant, his voice slightly hoarse. "I'll be staying for a while this time, not returning to Verono for now."

Rachel's face brightened at his words. "Really?"

Jamie offered a faint nod, shifting his gaze to the man who had been watching him with an unreadable expression. "Adrian."

Raising his glass in acknowledgment, Adrian remarked, "I didn't think you'd show up today."

"It's Grandfather's birthday, how could I not come?" Jamie retorted, a smile playing on his lips that could easily be misinterpreted. His eyes landed on the woman next to Adrian. Noticing Alice's presence, he feigned surprise before quickly recovering. "Adrian, aren't you going to introduce us?"

"Alice, my fiancée."

"Adrian, this is..." Alice began, her face adorned with a sweet smile. Even though she didn't explicitly state it, she had already deduced Jamie's identity.

Despite being aware of Jamie's existence, this was her first encounter with him. As she studied Jamie's striking profile, she couldn't help but marvel at the Howard family's impressive genes. Even with his physical disability, Jamie possessed a handsome face that left a lasting impression...

"Love is in the air..."

"Jamie," Adrian curtly stated his name, evidently unwilling to provide further introductions.

Unfazed, Jamie chuckled, "When did Adrian get a fiancée? Why wasn't I informed?"

"It was an oversight on my part, I forgot to tell you," Adrian responded. He was well aware that Jamie had his sources within the Howard family. How could he not know about the engagement?

Their brotherly bond had been irreparably damaged following Andrea's death. Could they ever return to the way things were? "Congratulations, regardless," Jamie glanced at his watch, adding, "I need to rest due to my disability, Adrian. We'll catch up another day."

"Alright," Adrian didn't linger, turning his attention to the other guests.

As Jamie, leaning on his cane, prepared to leave, his sleeve was abruptly tugged by someone. Rachel, her eyes downcast and cheeks tinged with a blush, hadn't seen him in a long time. "Jamie, what interesting things have you encountered in Verono? Let's chat."

Jamie's brows furrowed slightly. Although Rachel was technically his sister, he held no blood ties to the Howard family. He had relocated to Verono a decade ago, only returning once a year during the New Year. Apart from that, his visits to Vachilit were few and far between. Consequently, the connection between Jamie and Rachel was tenuous at best.

"What interesting things could I possibly have to share, being homebound all day due to my disability?" A fleeting smile graced Jamie's handsome face, though his sea-blue eyes remained icy. "Why don't you regale me with some intriguing tales from Vachilit, like how Adrian suddenly became engaged?"
