Chapter 828 A Fantasy
Adrian finished watching the video, feeling nothing in particular. What really surprised him was how Alice had always acted all innocent and sweet around him, and now that whole act was blown to smithereens.
He felt nothing but disgust for Alice.
Natalie said, "Karen gave this to me. She tried to bribe me into becoming the VP of Dynamic Entertainment with this video."
She glanced at Adrian, trying to read his face. His fiancée was caught up with the housekeeper's son. Even though there were no faces in the video, the impact was still heavy.
Adrian's phone buzzed; it was 8 AM.
Natalie peeked at his phone and saw Melissa's name pop up.
She had a hunch that Melissa's call was urgent.
Adrian looked at the phone but didn't pick up right away.
Natalie figured it was probably about Alice at the hospital.
After a few seconds, Adrian answered. "Melissa."
Melissa's voice was frantic. "Adrian, you need to get to the hospital right now! Hurry!"
"What happened?" Adrian asked.
"Alice is in critical condition. She's in surgery and they're still trying to resuscitate her. The doctor said it's life-threatening. Ruben's here too, and he wants you to come immediately."
"Got it."
After hanging up, Adrian turned to Natalie. "I might not be able to stay with you this morning."
Natalie, sitting close enough to hear the whole conversation, said, "You should go to the hospital."
Adrian felt a pang of emotion at Natalie's understanding. He hugged her tight and gave her a deep kiss before heading out.
At the hospital.
Adrian rushed to the entrance of the operating room and saw Ruben and Claire waiting.
Besides the Howards, Curtis and Avery were there too. Avery was a mess in Curtis's arms, and Curtis looked wiped out.
It was clear something serious was up with Alice.
Melissa saw him coming and whispered, "It's not looking good."
Adrian frowned. "Wasn't Alice stable in the ICU?"
Melissa explained, "At 7 AM, the nurse noticed something off with Alice. The on-duty doctor checked her and called Mrs. Butler right away. They rushed her into emergency. The nurse said we should call the family. It doesn't sound good."
Adrian knew Alice's true colors but couldn't spill the beans to the Howards just yet.
He had to wait and see how things played out with Alice.
Her plan to marry into the Howard family with a kid was just a fantasy.
Once back with the Howards, Adrian would lay everything out and break off the engagement with Alice. With this video, it would be a lot easier. It would also help Claire see Alice for who she really was and stop being fooled.
Since losing the last child, Claire had felt guilty and had even secretly arranged resources for Alice at Dynamic Entertainment.
It was time for everyone to see the truth.
Just then, the operating room door opened, and Mrs. Butler's assistant stepped out. "Are the patient's family members here?"
